Feminine dative...help!

Ah. I see you have two pdfs, one for sean nos and the other for nos ur. I guess that when I first looked and saved the pdf I didn't realise the difference and only saved the nos ur one.

All is clear!
(I still think Gaelic is nearly as bonkers as English, and love it)

Feminine dative...help!

You do realise you are my hero, Akerbeltz, so I would have been shattered if you had been "wrong". Your explanation was the one I was sort-of coming to myself but as a learner of just over a year's standing (though speaking quite a lot of other languages) I didn't quite have the confidence...

Feminine dative...help!

Is it a' chlarsach or a' chlarsaich? A' chaileag or a' chaileig? I have two pdfs in front of me, one by SMO (where I'm studying online) and one by Akerbeltz. They disagree.

What is a mere learner to do?! Many thanks.

’S toil le... + name or pronoun rules

That last was addressed to akerbeltz, but thank you, GunChleoc, I rather like that way of looking at things. I have also come to the conclusion that for some reason rattling off declensions is just not working, despite my having learned Greek and Latin that way!

’S toil le... + name or pronoun rules

Got it. Brilliant. I'll see how things go and if necessary I will get one of the books you mention.

’S toil le... + name or pronoun rules

Thank you, and thank you for your online grammar. I find the Cursa Inntrigidh hopeless on grammar (I was a classicist) and although I've now bought Michel Byrne, even that doesn't come up to what I'm used to. I almost always end up coming back to yours. Would you mind another question, then: I am do...

’S toil le... + name or pronoun rules

What a relief it is to find that someone else found the section in the SMO Cùrsa Inntrigidh on le/leis etc impenetrable or insufficient! I'm just doing that very test paper and I have stuck on that very question - that's how I ended up in this thread! In general it is a good course, but it is a bit ...

Dative or prepositional case

Apologies, I'm a beginner, and I just can't get my head round the dative case. If I understand correctly, all prepositions take that case. I can't find (I'm sure there is one somewhere) a straightforward Gaelic grammar where you can look stuff up. Could someone tell me how to say Donald has fair hai...
