Re: Wiktionary
Wiktionary is convenient when in this forum and encountering words in Gàidhlig. However, I'll keep in mind what you mentioned when using this is the future as I have noticed conflicting information when using online resources which is which I now only use material from taic and akerbeltz.

Re: Query about dative singular feminine nouns
I think I've used the wrong words in my previous reply. I should have asked if not learning pronunciation at the same time as learning grammar will make overall learning of the language a lot harder. From the replies, it sounds like it is. Just to clarify, the reason why I am concentrating on gramma...

Re: Query about dative singular feminine nouns
Just thought I'd bring this up as many beginners focus too much on the letter i and h and not on what their mouthes are supposed to be doing as a result :) At the moment, I am concentrating on the written rather than the spoken part for reasons which I have given on another thread. Am I possibly ha...

Anki - Language learning software
I was recommended another piece of software called Anki which can be used to learn a language via the flashcard memorising method. It is available on a number of platform including mobile phones including the IPhone and Android. The link to it is here:

Query about Prepositions
I would be grateful for help to ensure I understand the meaning of some prepositions. Firstly, the preposition ri(s). It says in Taic that it means at, against giving an example of ri sgàthan (against a mirror). I presume that the meaning of ri is determined by the context it is in the sentence, for...

Adjectives describing singular Feminine Nouns
I believe that singular feminine nouns lenite adjectives that describes them where possible. I just want to confirm if the following sentences are correct: an robh a' mhuir fhuar seo bòidheach? = was this cold sea beautiful? bha a' ghrian mhall glè bhòidheach = the slow sun was very beautful an robh...

How to figure out a gender of a noun
I've done a google and found a few links about this. One said that the gender of a noun can only be known by learning them and another mentioned the following rules: the following kinds of nouns tend to be masculine: 1) the young of all animals regardless of their sex (e.g. "uan", a lamb);...

Re: Sentence Generation program
I probably did go a bit OTT with reply to criticism :-) Just to reiterate again (and I know repeating myself again!), the purpose of the project I am highlighting is as an study aid rather a means to learn the language and that my lack of progress is due to be stuck in a comfort zone brought on by c...

Re: Sentence Generation program
Seonaidh, I had posted about this project in a number of forums and in the Reference and Links section of this one for learners who might be interested in it.I had only intended to reply to any queries about the project however, I will comment on some points in your post. You said: As you see, writi...

Re: Sentence Generation program
For those who don't have Linux, there is a Parley file which contains these generated sentences. The link is as follows and the file can be viewed as a XML file: http://kde-files.org/content/show.php/Scottish+Gaelic+Generated+Practices?content=138153 As can be seen some of the generated sentences ca...

Sentence Generation program
I haven't been on this forum for a while and as can be seen that I am still posting in English my Gàidhlig language skills have not improved much since then although I have still been practising individual words using the Parley program which I had previously mentioned. The reasons that I have not s...
