Re: Just doing it... English to Gàidhlig - Short bits and Pi

chanainn: na dèan thusa/sibhse

'S dòcha bidh sin roghainn eile: Nì mise meachdaran nas trice na thusa/sibhse.
Maybe this is an alternative: I make mistake more often than you.

Re: A h-ochd (#8) - Dè rinn sibh as t-samhradh?

Uill, tha an samhradh dìreach a' tòiseachadh an seo, ach tha mi an dòchas gum bidh ùine agam airson fòis fhaighinn. Bha na mìosan sa chaidh uabhasach trang agus dh'obraich mi tòrr. Tha mi a' dèanamh fiughair mhòr ris an leabhar a leughadh a cheannaich mi o chionn fhada. 'S e Teas an t-ainm a tha air...

Re: Ciamar a tha an t-sìde / How's the weather?

Feumaidh mi radh gum bi an t-sìde blàth is grianach mar a thuirt iad an-dè. I must say, that the weather is warm and sunny like they told yesterday. Ach tha rud beag ùine agam airson rud-eigin a sgrìobhadh an seo agus airson fois fhaighinn. But I have a little bit time to write something here and to...

Re: Ciamar a tha an t-sìde / How's the weather?

Halò, a poor_mouse, tha mi duilich nach do sgrìobh mi roimhe, ach bha mi trang dha-rìreabh. I'm sorry that I didn' t write before, but I have been really busy. Tha mi a' fuireach anns a' Ghearmailt. I'm living in Germany. Dh'atharraich an t-sìde o chionn ghoirid agus tha i rud beag mar samhradh an s...

Re: Ciamar a tha an t-sìde / How's the weather?

Bha i blàth is grianach far a bheil thu a' fuireach? It was warm and sunny where you are living? Nach buidhe dhut! Aren't you lucky!!! Tha an t-uisge gu trom ann an seo fad an latha. It has been heavily raining the whole day long. Ach bha sin ceart gu lèor oir b'fheudar dhomh an taigh a sgioblachadh...

Re: Saying what you are.

Wow, thank you so much for this compliment. :mc: I am not really pleased with my english, and that is the reason, why I hesitated quite a while before posting here. But I'm not pleased with my gàidhlig either and the only thing, that helps to improve is practising, isn't it? :D :D :D So I try to joi...

Thanks so much for the link. :moladh: Many people, that are speaking gaelic, have at least a similar idea concerning the neccessity of the survival of the language, but it is good to see, that it is spoken out loud and visible, even if might not change much. :ub: :ub: :ub: :ub: :ub: :ub: :ub:

Re: Saying what you are.

Hi Niall, I think I have to apologise for choosing such a bad example. I am aware of the difference between "Am faic thu " and "A bheil thu a' faicinn" But I choose deliberatly "A bheil thu a' faicinn a' chàir"=" Are you (just now) seeing the car?"( My English...

Re: Saying what you are.

Hi, it might help, if you ask your self, what you are meaning with "it" Normally, you refer with it to a noun, and in gaelic, each noun is either male no female. So you can simply use the related personal pronoun. e.g. Tha a' chraobh àrd agus tha i brèagha. Tha an càr agam geal agus tha e ...

Re: Saying what you are.

Hi, Teddy, I can tell you, how I' ve learnt it. So here we go: Is mise = you "only" use this phrase, if you wanna say something, that can't change easily, e.g. Is mise boireannach = I am a woman; is mise Spàinnteach, is mise Teddy a.s.o. Tha mi nam ...= if you tell other about you current ...

Re: Ciamar a tha an t-sìde / How's the weather?

Chuala mi gun ràinig an stoirm Ear-thuath nan Stàitean. I heard that the storm arrived northeast of the States. Tha mi dìreach a' coimhead air na naidheachdan agus tha ullach orm. I' m just watching the news and I' m worried. Is coltach gu bheil e uabhasach doirbh agus tha mi an dòchas gum bi thu (a...

Re: A h-naoi (#9) - Dè an uair a tha e?

Tha mi coma nuair a bhios èirigh sa mhadainn aig ochd uairean no aig sia uairean, ach is toil leam dhachaigh ràinig nuair a bhios an grian ag èirigh. It is indifferent to me, whether the sun rises at eight o' clock or at six o' clock, but I like it to come home when the sun is rising. Agus nuair a b...

'S e do bheatha, Alasdair! You' re welcome, Alasdair. 'S e àm uabhasach snog a th'ann an-dràsta. It is a really nice time at the moment. Bha mi glè thoilichte nuair a dh'fhalbh mi an taigh trath sa mhadainn: bha e fionnar agus chunnaic mi èirigh na grèine àlainn le purpaidh, ruadh agus d...
