"...Tha mi a’ fuireach ri taobh a’ Chuain Mòr...." Ma tha 'cuan' san tuiseil ghineatach, a' ciallachadh air a sheimhreachadh 's air a chaolachadh, nach tèid a bhuadhar atharrachadh san aon dhòigh? A' Ciallachadh ' a' Chuain Mhòir "? If 'cuan' is in the genitive case, i.e. lenited and slenderized, wo...

I just got a laptop computer and it seems the old way I have been using to generate accents (example 'alt+0024'=à) only works if you have a number pad.

Does anyone know how to generate them without a numpad?

Nuair a dh'fhàg sinn Juneau airson dhol a dh'Alba aig toiseach an Damhair, tha 'Geamhradh' mu leth-shìos nan slèibhtean nam beann, mu 2000 troigh os chionn a' bhaile. Nuair a thill sinn, dhà sheachdainn air ais bha e 1000 troigh os chionn a' bhaile. An deireadh she...

Fàilte ort Neas.

Dh'fhuirich mise ann am Montreal fad bliadhnaichean agus 's ann às an sgìre sin a tha mo bhean

"But then "cearr" needs pluralised, doesn't it?
rudan cearra"

According to the grammar rules it would be but I can't say that I have ever heard it that way so I kind of wonder.

Nuair a bha mi an Alba, bha mi nam fhear-turais gun nàire, thog mi dealbhan de a-uile nì 's bha mi airson leinne-t a cheannach ach sa Ghàidhlig. Chan fhaca mi dad. Tha a h-uile nì sa Bheurla a-mhàin agus aig a cheann thall cheannaich mi rudeigin le Beurla sgrìobhre air. Ach saoilidh mi gur e seo cot...

Gaelic at Historic Scotland sites

While we were visiting around Scotland, we visited a number of places that were run by Historic Scotland. Example Urquart Castle on Loch Ness. At many places, they offer mp3 players that you can listen to. It's kind of a tour guide. They offer them in many languages. But not Gaelic. I know because I...
