You don't have to go deep into grammar when learning Gaelic. In fact I don't even recommend it unless of course you like it. If reading a grammar from cover to cover is entertaining then by all means. But for most people it's just a cure for insomnia. For myself, when I hit the 8th chapter of TYG, I...

Given my circumstances, I'd say that learning Gàidhlig would be pointless given that I live in Alaska were it not for the internet. That makes all the difference in the world. The internet has the ability of aggregating people of like interest though they be far apart physically. When I did eventual...

Dè mu dheidhinn an cnap airgid a chaidh shadadh air an t-sitig air a bheil mygaelic mar ainm? Shaoilinn gun chuireadh an t-suim seo a leithid de thaigh-seinnse air dòigh.

Ok, dè mu dhèidhinn invalid lift/lioft?

Tha seo èibhinn, oir shaoil mi, oh, tha iad ag cur nan Gaidheal dhan lioft a bha briste. Ach 's e lioft dhan euslaintich nach e? Ma 's e, carson nach tuirt iad sin?

Bha an dearbh chòmhradh agam ri cuideigin eile an t-seachdainn-sa. Nan robh seòrsa de thaigh seinnse ann fosgailte a dh'òigridh far am biodh tòrr mòr tachairtean tarraingeach a-staigh 's a h-uile nì ann an Gàidhlig. Bhiodh ùidh agam pàirt a ghabhail ann an leithid.

Cleachdadh na Gàidhlig san Dachaidh: aithris san Albannach

Mhothaich mi air an aithris seo san Albannach mu co-labhairt a th' air a bhith ann mu cleachdadh na Gàidhlig. Seo an ceangal dhan aithris gu lèir: http://news.scotsman.com/gaelic/Mar-ghabhas-39cleachdadh-na-Gidhlig39.5407518.jp Bha aon rud ann a ghlac m' aire gu mòr leis gu bheil sinne air a bhith d...

Thanks akerbeltz! I've been scratching my head on that one for years going by gut as much as anything. It brings to mind the phrase: 'cuid de dhaoine', I guess if it's analogous to that, then it would take 'de'

It's more common with single syllable words: mo làmh> cùl mo làimhe mo chas> bonn mo choise I really don't hear it much in two syllable words, except words like Eaglais>Sràid na h-Eaglaise where the older form is captured/frozen like in a place name. Add an -e on a two syllable word would sound kind...

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_o45RJ_ZCGI8/SkGxlvlzo6I/AAAAAAAAAHM/WitTJd_nijI/s1600-h/P1010177.JPG Tha sinn a' deanamh cuairt-chàir tro na roinnean Canaideanach mar a leannas: Yukon (ged chan e roinn ceart a th' inntese), Alberta agus British Columbia. Thòisich sinn ann an Juneau 's ghabh sinn aiseag g...

Uill, shaoil mi beagan a bharrachd air an t-soighne fad an latha agus thuirt mi rium fhìn, dè mur a robh na cànain eile ann, nan robh àite a bharrachd ann dhan Ghàidhlig agus mura robh mi a' toirt cus for do a bhith modhail, dè a theirinn? Uill, dè mu dheidhinn: Hey, Amadain. Tha creagan cas mhairbh...

Sa chiad dol a-mach, tha na faclan Gàidhlig ro bheag. Tha feansa boireann, saoilidh gur e 'thairis air na feansa' as fheàrr. Ach, mura robh iad ag obair bhon Bheurla, dè a theireadh iad? A' chiad cheist a th' agam, 's e creag. Chan eil dad ceàrr leis ach saoilidh mi gur e 'creagan' a chanadh iad. Dè...

'S ann le Fhionnlagh a tha mise. Fhuair mise cuairt Spàinntis san oilthigh 's fhuair sinn beagan mìneachadh sa Bheurla a' chiad latha 's bho sin a-mach bha a h-uile nì sa Spàinntis. Dh' obraich sin glè mhath. 'S ged a tha mo chuid spàinntis gu math lag, feumaidh aideachadh, tha i agam fhathast, an o...

"...tha luchd-tòiseachaidh glè dhèidheil air "cabadaich an-diugh agus fuaimneachadh a-màireach". Agus chan urrainn dhut sin a dhèanamh le cànan mar a' Ghàidhlig aig a bheil siostam fòn-eòlach cho eadar-dhealaichte..." Tha seo cho fìor sa ghabhas. 'Chunnaic mi sin an seo ann an Juneau. Cha do theagai...
