I guess the discussion is being lead away from its main point. I don't object the interaction in the teaching of a language, I don't require the process of learning to be a boring rote drilling. I simply assert that without profound grammar basis any course is destined to fail . No grammar - no know...

Grammar must be taught and learned, but the traditional methods focused on tables, rote drilling and substitution exercises fail precisely because they are like musical scales. ... There are far more useful relationships that must be learned in order to be able to work out intervals without having ...

Oh and another thing - some people might groan cause it sounds like I'm always going on about this - but in your course design, you must place a lot of early focus on pronunciation and listening skills (in relation to comprehending native speakers). There's another thing that should be emphasised -...

Is bochd sin nach eil na dùthchannan far a bheil mi a' fuireach (an Ruis agus Innis Tìle) anns an lìosta. Ge-tà, tha mi a' dol a dh'fhàg teachdaireachd an sin gum bu toil leam an seirbheis do dhùthchanan a dh'fhaighinn. Gu dearbh chan eil mi cinnteach gun cuidichidh e, ach nach e rud eile gur urrain...

This means it's probably a problem with DNS -- Domain Name Service. Names sometimes drop off due to config errors and it can often take 24 hours for the name to repropagate through the network. I'm not seeing it yet and 24 hours since my last visit there are over.. very strange for an ordinary DNS ...

Càite a bheil TAIC/ Where is TAIC?
Chan eil an larach-lìn seo (air an robh cùrsa glè chuideachail na Gàidhlig) ri fhaicinn an-dràsta, a bheil e a'ciallachadh gu bheil e dùinte? http://www.taic.btinternet.co.uk/ At the moment this website (which featured a very helpful course of Gaelic) seems to be unavailable, does it mean it is shu...

'S bochd sin! Tha mi'n dòchas a-mhàin gum fuirichidh larach-lìn a' phàipeir-naidheachd leis tasglann nam seann àireamh. B'àbhaist dhomh cur sìos aistean aca airson ionnsachadh na cànain. Shame! I only hope the website of the newspaper will stay with the back issues archive. I used to download their...

It should also be noted that Gaelic doesn't have an infinitive although the verbal noun that is used here gets tr*nsl***** with an infinitive in English (i.e. they verbal nouns have a similar function to infinitives in some constructions). Coimhead, sgrìobhad etc in the examples are verbal nouns, w...

Finnish and Sami are Scandinavian.... Well, in the sense that is where they are spoken. They are Indo-European to be correct. If you mean Finnish and Saami, then they are not Indo-European but rather Finno-Ugrian. The term 'Scandinavian languages' is applied only to Swedish/Norwegian/Danish/Faroese...
