Hello!

I'm Rachel and originally from the North East Scotland and I was always interested in learning Gaelic. Unfortunately I chose to wait until I lived in the East of England before starting where there isn't as many resources around. Not the best planning but working with what I've got. As of today I am restarting my Gaelic learning. I started learning a few months ago but things like going on holiday got in the way and fell out the habit.

I'm hoping now I've restarted I can become more confident and start using my new knowledge to post on here in Gaelic.

Where in the East of England are you? There is a thriving Gaelic class which takes place on Wednesday evenings in Central London, though I doubt that would be convenient.

Alternatively, have you maybe considered distance learning?

I'm in Peterborough which, as far as my research has gone, isn't convenient for any local Gaelic group.

Have looked in to the SMO course but concerned about the fixed times of the phone tutorials and the timing of them. I work on a shift pattern so unless they were after 7pm I can't do the same day every week.

Peterborough, eh? Well, we have students who travel further than that, and the classes take place about 5 minutes from Kings Cross.

As regards the distance learning phone classes, as I recall I was given a choice of times, a couple of which started at 7.30pm. There's no problem with missing a week occasionally either...

Yeah, half 7 would be okay which makes it more likely that I could do it. Definitely under serious consideration.
