If anyone would like to point out the mistakes in that, I would be most grateful. I did begin some time ago, and joined this forum under another name, but a house move intervened and I lost track a bit! I am using the course Complete Gaelic and also Beag air Bheag. My interest in Gaelic originated through Gaelic song, listening to Maggie McInnes, Ishbel MacCaskill, Julie Fowlis and others, and after a visit to Harris and Lewis I got started.

For knowing as an ability, it is better to use:

ach chan eil mi glè eòlach/chomasach/mhath air/oirre fhathast.

Moran Taing, Gunchleoc. I will look up how to apply accents, although it's easier to shelter behind the excuse that I don't know how!

No excuse, we also have a Ω-button here for a selection of special characters, including the accented vowels

The accents are very important for vowel length, so I recommend that you always use them.

Thank you to those who have replied to my introduction with a welcome. I'm not sure yet how to say this in Gaelic but I will be trying to put things into Gaelic in future, even adding accents to my repertoire after having my knuckles rapped (in the nicest possible way) by GunChleoc. I probably underestimated their importance.

Using as much Gaelic as you can is the best way to learn. So, siuthad, a bhodaich!

Is mise Claire, tha mi ag ionnsachadh na Gàidhlig- gu màirnealach! Tha mi fuireach ann an Cromba (Cromarty), anns an Alba! Tha mi luisreagan (a herbalist) and I am researching the Gaelic tradition and herbs native to Scotland. Hoping to practice a bit more here, as I need to get used to conversation and written Gaelic. I'm also hoping to pick up Classical Gaelic once I get better at the grammar.

Happy to meet other learners, and to be corrected (within reason!)

Yes, sometimes there's no agreement among the dictionaries on whether a consonant is slender or broad.
