Hello, everyone,

I began learning Gaelic a couple of months ago - so I am very much a beginner. I am from the State of Texas from the USA and studying the language 'long distance' from Donald Macdonald. So, the process is rather slow.

A word of thanks to 'GunCleoch' from Germany for hosting this site. I hope it's not going to be too much trouble. Sites like this are a big boost to those of us that are trying to develop our skills.

I'll try my hand at Gaelic in the next postings and hope ya'll won't cringe.

Tapadh leibh! :D

Halò, s' mise Miguel (bha mi Asterix anns an fhòram eile). Bha mi a' smaoineachadh gun robh am fòram marbh.
Hi, I'm Miguel (I was Asterix in the other forum). I thought the forum was dead.

Tha mi a' fuireach ann am Paris, agus tha mi Portagailis.
I'm living in Paris, and I am Portuguese.

Tha mi fichead 's a h-ochd bliadhna dh'aois. Tha mi ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig leis an leabhar TYG, ach chan eil mo Ghàidhlig glè mhath.

I am 28. I'm learning Gàidhlig with the TYG book, but my Gàidhlig is not well.

'S math gu bheil bòrd-bràth eadar-nàiseanta ann a-rithist (ged a bheil am fear Gearmailtis glè mhath cuideachd).
Cha do dh'atharraich an frith-ainm agam... Tha mi a' fuireach ann an Alba, ann an Dùn Èideann ged nach e Albannach a th'annam.
Thòisich mi Harry Potter eadar-theangachadh gu Gàidhlig, ma tha ùidh aig duine sam bith, tha fàilte oirbh: http://nagaidhlig.iphpbb.com Chan eil mòran a` dol ann oir tha mi nam aonar an-dràsda, agus nì mi a h-uile rud far-loighne. 'S e gu math intinneach a th'ann: chan eil mi a' smaoineachadh gur e eadar-theangachadh math no ealanta a th'ann ach ionnsaich mi mòran.

Fàilte air na dithis agaibh! :D
Welcome the two of you!

Beagan ceartachaidh:

miguel wrote:tha mi Portagailis.

'S e Portagaileach/Portagailteach(?) a th' annam.

You use -is for languages and -ach for people.
For nouns, always use 'S e ... a th' ann ...

Agus tha a Ghàidhlig agad ceart gu leòr nam beachd-sa. :D
And I think you Gaelic is good enough.

@amhlaobh: Saoilidh mi gur e proiseact inntinneach a th' ann, ach chan eil Gàidhlig gu leòr agam fhathast... tha mi ag iarraidh tuilleadh ionnsachaidh an dèidh tòiseachadh leis.
