Halò a h-uile duine! Is mise Ruaridh

Unread post by ScottishLaowai » Tue Apr 07, 2020 5:32 pm

Halò a h-uile duine! 'S e Ruaridh an t-ainm a th' orm, agus tha mi naoi bliadhna fichead a dh'aois. Rugadh mi ann an Obar Dheathain, ach tha mo theaghlach a' fuireach ann an Dùn Èideann a-nis. Tha mise a' fuireach anns an Òlaind agus thòisich mi ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig an-uiridh.

Is toil leam ionnsachadh cànain ùra: tha Beurla, Fraingis, Duitsis, Arabais, agus Sìonais agam. Tha mi ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig, Gearmailtis, agus Eabhrais cuideachd.

Hello everyone! My name is Ruaridh, and I'm twenty-nine years old. I was born in Aberdeen, but my family now lives in Edinburgh. I live in the Netherlands and started learning Gaelic last year.

I enjoy learning new languages: I speak English, French, Dutch, Arabic, and Chinese. I'm also learning Gaelic, German, and Hebrew.

Fàilte chridheil dhut!

Tha mi air mo bheò-ghlacadh le cànanan cuideachd!
I'm obsessed with languages too

Tha Fraingis, Spàinntis, Eadailtis agus Catalan agam. Tha rud beag Cuimris agus Corsican agam cuideachd.

Tapadh leat a Níall! Ciamar a bha thu ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig? Aig an oilthigh no sgoil, no leat fhèin?

Thanks Níall! How did you learn Gaelic? At university or school, or by yourself?

Dh'ionnsaich mi i le measgachadh de dhòighean.
I learnt with a mixture of methods.

Cursaichean goirid aig Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, ionnsachadh bho leabhraichean, agus bliadhna aig an t-Sabhal Mòr.

Ceartachadh beag: Tapadh leat a Níall -> Tapadh leat a Nèill. Vocative case ;)

Ah, so that's how you put it in the vocative, right. Mòran taing!

Tha mi air a bhith ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig air Duolingo agus le leabhar "Teach Yourself: Complete Gaelic". Gu mì-fhortanach, tha an e-leabhar agam agus chan eil audio ann. Tha mi airson ionnsachaidh aig Sabhal Mòr Ostaig anns an àm ri teachd, ach bu toil leam ceumnaich bhon cùrsa agam an-seo aig Oilthigh Leiden ron àm sin.

I've been learning Gaelic on Duolingo and with the book "Teach yourself: Complete Gaelic". Unfortunately, I have the e-book and there's no audio.
I want to study at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in the future, but I'd like to graduate from my course here at Leiden University before that.

B' urrainn dhut An Litir Bheag no Litir do Luchd-ionnsachaidh a cleachdadh airson èisteachd ri rudan.

You could use the The Little Letter or Letter to Learners for listening to stuff.
