For instance, how would you say "History has been made"?

I found this in DASG:

Does this help?

I guess the tricky thing here is to know when to use the article and when to drop it. For example, there is also this expression:

Tha a' mheanbh-chuileag dona an-diugh - the midges are bad today. Gaelic uses the singular here, so it has sort of a collective meaning.
