Dè as toil leibh? [What do you like?]

Sgrìobhaibh rudeigin anns a' Ghàidhlig neo anns a' Bheurla, neo anns a' Ghàidhlig agus a' Bheurla! [Write something in Gaelic or in English, or in a mix of Gaelic and English]. If you don't know how to say something, just ask.

Is toil leam Gàidhlig ionnsachadh. - You don't use the a before a vowel.

And I'm far from sure about this, but my TYG gave me the impression that it's more idiomatic to say 's toil leam a bhith + participle (+object):
Is toil leam a bhith ag ionnsachadh (Gàidhlig).

'S toigh leam ceòl agus 's toigh leam tarruing dealbh. (I like music and I like painting)
Cha toigh leam an seangan beag (I don't like ants...) They freak me out, silly little black things!

That's probably riddled with inaccuracies... But it's my best attempt

- ... 's toigh leam a bhith a' tarraing dhealbhan / dealbhan a tharraing. - the spelling tarruing is outdated now; dealbhan - plural (in plural you lenite the genitive when there is not an article but don't be too troubled over this one yet); btw I suppose that there is a difference between drawing /tarraing dealbhan and painting / peantadh but I'm no artist.
- ...na seangan beaga.
na seangan - plural: the article changes too and you add -a or -e (according to the broad to broad, slender to slender rule) to one-syllable adjectives (except math).

- bàtaichean fiodha - no need for hyphen or lenition in this case
- Is toigh leam fuineadh. or Is toigh leam a bhith a' fuineadh.
- ... bidh mi ag imrich Diciadain. (the particle matters)

- a bhith a' coiseachd anns a' choille ri taobh na h-aibhne. - a bhith has a without the apostrophe; verbal noun - coiseachd; after ri taobh you use the genitive: an abhainn -> na h-aibhne
- Agus 's lugha orm ''texting'' air a' fòn/air an fhòn. - no need for the air before the (verbal) noun; the declension of fòn is irregular and as far as I can tell not quite settled yet, but I suppose you only see am fòn in the nominative

Agus cha toil leamsa "texting" (teacsadh? teacsachadh? teacsaichean a sgrìobhadh?) ach 's fìor lugha orm fònadh!
And I myself don't like texting but absolutely loathe phoning!

Is toil leam a bhith a' leughadh leabhraichean san Ruisis agus sa' Bheurla. I like to read books in Russian and in English.

'S fìor thoil leam a bhith a' leughadh sa' Ghàidhlig cuideachd, mas urrainn dhomh rudeigin a thuigsinn! I really like to read in Gealic too, if I can understand something!

'S toil leam a bhith a' tarraing dhealbhan, ged nach bi mi a' tarraing glè thric... I like drawing, though I do not draw very often.

When you shorten anns a' to sa, you drop the apostrophe: sa Bheurla, sa Ghàidhlig

Cha toil leam leughadh naidheachdan mu a' Costa Concordia sgiorradh. Bidh iad craobh-sgaoil fìos ceàrr airson bliadhnaichean; anàs dèidh sin bidh iad fòghlaim what happened.

I don't like reading news about the Costa Concordia accident. They will publish wrong information for years; then they will learn what happened.

In the maritime industry accidents are usually squarely blamed on the Captain. They shoulder the responsibility simply through their positions but typically, they aren't solely to blame. This fact always seems to escape the media though. They'll throw a captain under the bus before the investigation is done. It makes me wonder if I will stay in the industry long enough to be a Captain.

Cha toil leam naidheachdan mu thubaist a' Chosta Concordia a leughadh

Bidh iad a' foillseachadh/a' craobh-sgaoileadh fìos ceàrr airson bhliadhnaichean; às dèidh sin bidh iad ag ionnsachadh dè thachair. - airson is made up of two parts, air + son. So, you need the genitive after that.

Nì iad an aon rud le sgiobaidhean buill-coise. Mura h-eil cùisean a' dol gu math, cuiridh iad a' choire air a' chòidse an-còmhnaidh.
They do the same with football teams. When things aren't going well, they always blame the coach.
