Madainn mhath,
An toil leibh a' dannsadh? 'S toil leamsa a'dannsadh. Bha mi a' dannsadh a-raoir, ann an Lunnainn.
'S fheàrr leam strip the willow.
Do you like dancing? I like dancing. I was dancing last night in London. My favourite is strip the willow.

Cha toil! Bha agam ri 'country dancing' a dhèanamh nuair a bha mi nam sgoilear agus chan eil mi ag iarraidh e a dhèanamh a-rithist — tha* cus droch-chùimhne agamsa air PE. B' abhaist dhom a dhol a-mach a' dannsadh nuair a bha mi nam oileanach, ge-tà 's ann an clubaichean-oidhche a bha sin**.

No! I had to do (Scottish) 'country dancing' when I was in school and I don't want to do it again — too many bad memories from PE. I used to go out dancing when I was a student, although that was in night clubs.

* can I drop that 'tha'?
** That last phrase is bit of a stab, does it make sense?

I understood what you wrote but my Gaelic is not so good.
Tha mi neach- ionnsachaidh cuideachd.

Beagan ceartachaidh:

An toil leibh dannsadh? An toil leibh a bhith a' dannsadh?
chan eil mi ag iarraidh a dhèanamh / chan eil mi ag iarraidh a bhith ga dhèanamh

* can I drop that 'tha'? - only in diary style I guess. Better leave it in for now.
** That last phrase is bit of a stab, does it make sense? - It does :)

Tha mi duilich nach toil ...
Tha mi a' tuigsinn na sgrìobh thu ach chan eil mo chuid Ghàidhlig glè mhath. (chan eil fhathast ach thig an latha - not yet, but the day will come)
Tha mi nam neach-ionnsachaidh...

'S toil leam 'Strip the Willow' cuideachd. :) Bidh mo chàraidean às a Ghlaschu a' dannsadh 'Strip the Willow' gu fiadhaich! 'S toil leam 'The Gay Gordon' cuideachd. :D

I like Strip the Willow too. My friends from Glasgow dance strip the willow wildly! I like 'The Gay Gordon' as well.

A dhà (#2) - Dè as toil leibh?

Unread postby Balgam » Sun Nov 06, 2016 2:08 pm

Hàlo a charaidean, ciamar a tha sibh?

Dè as toil leamsa ma-thà? Uill, 's toil leam cus agus chan eil tìde gu leòr agam gu mì-fhortanach... coltach ri duine sam bith eile an seo, tha mi 'n dùil

Nuair a bha mi nas òige rinn mi torr spòrs - snàmh, ruith, camanachd-deighe, stuth mar sin. Bha mi caran trang.

'S toil leam snàmh fhathast. 'S urrainn dhomh ruith fhathast cuideachd ach cha toil le mo chasan no mo ghlùintean!

'S toil leam fhìn cluiche ceòl ach cha toil le mo chàraid no mo nàbaidhean-sa nas motha èisteachd ris. Co-dhiù...

Mu dheireadh, 's toil leam Gàidhlig. Mas urrainn dhomh bidh mi ag ionnsachadh beagan gach latha, beag air bheag!

What do I like then? Well, I like too much and I don't have enough time unfortunately... similarly to everybody else here I expect.

When I was younger I did lots of sport - swimming, running, ice hockey, stuff like that. I was quite busy.

I like swimming still. I can run still too but my legs and knees don't like it!

I like playing music but my partner nor my neighbours either don't like listening to it. Anyway...

Finally, I like Gàidhlig. If I can I am learning a little bit every day, little by little!

Tha mi buileach cinnteach gu bheil mearbhallan ann. Ceartaichibh, mas e ur toil le :)

Nach tric gu dearbh a thachras gur toil leinn rudegin a dheanamh, ach cha toil le ar caraidean sin... :gulach:
Is toil leam snàmh cuideachd; agus bha mi leth-cheud bliadhna a dh'aois nuair a dh'ionnsaich mi snàmh meadhanach math. :)

It's really often that we like to do something, but our friends do not like this...
I like swimming too; and I was fifty years old when I learnt to swim tolerably well.

Sin an fhìrinn Poor Mouse. A bi thu a' snàmh gu tric? Chaidh mise an-dè. Bha e fuar an seo a-raoir ach bha an t-amar-snàmh na bu bhlàithe na a-muigh.

That's the truth Poor Mouse. Are you swimming often? I went yesterday. It was cold here last night but the swimming pool was warmer than outside.

GhunChleoc, taing dhut a-rithist airson do cheartachaidhean. Tha mi a' tuigsinn :)
