Tha mi 'n dùil gu bheil gàrradh na sgoile gu math brèagha ma-thà. :D

I expect that the school's garden will be quite beautiful then.

A bheil na sgoilearan ag obair anns a' ghàrradh cuideachd?
A bheil iad ag ionnsachadh mu lusan agus glasraich? No mu bhith-eòlas?

:flur:

Do the pupils work in the garden too?
Do they learn about plants and vegetables? Or about biology?

Chan na sgoilearan ag obair anns a' gharradh, ach tha iad ag ionnsachadh bhith-èolas anns a chlas.
The pupils do not work in the garden but they learn Biology in the clas.
Chan eil a' gharradh mòr ach raoin-cluiche aca.
The garden is not big but they have a playing field.

‘S e oileanach a th’ annam. Tha mi ag ionnsachadh diadhachd (eòlas-Dhè) agus na cànanan Bioballach.
I'm a student. I'm studying theology and Biblical languages.
Ach tha mi a’ smaoineachadh gun ionnsaich mi teagasg an àth-bhliadhn’.
But I think I will study teaching next year.

‘N uair a bha mise ann an sgoil, bha gàrradh againn agus bha sinn ag obair ann.
When I was in school, we had a garden and we had to work in it.
Bha gàrradh nan glàsraich ann agus bha gàrradh nan “craobhan dùthchas” ann cuideachd.
We had a vegetable garden and a "native garden" as well.
Dh’ith sinn na glàsraichean agus bha leasanan cultarach againn anns an gàrradh nan craobhan dùthchas. Dh’ith sinn sùgh nan craobhan agus dearcagan.
We ate the vegetables and we had cultural lessons in the native garden. We ate tree-sap and berries.
‘S e “wak-wak o wirra” an t-ainm a bh’ air an gàrradh sin: ‘s e “gàrradh nan claoinne” a th’ anns a’ Ghàidhlig. 'S e Kaurna a th' anns a' chànan dùthchas.
That garden was called "wak-wak o wirra": that's "children's garden" in English. The local language is called Kaurna.

A Raghnaid, tha m'athair ag obair anns an roinn diadhaireachd aig an Oilthigh Chill Rìmhinn. Tha e a' teagasg eachdraidh na h-eaglaise. An toil leat diadhaireachd? Tha càraidean agam gum bheil iad a' leughadh diadhaireachd, ach 's fhearr leam eachdraidh. Bha mo bhana-charaid a' leughadh foghlam creideimh ann an Glaschu, aig an Oilthigh Srath Chluaidh.

'S e oileanach a th' annam. Tha mi a' leughadh eachdraidh mheadan-aoiseil aig an Oilthigh Chill Rìmhinn. Tha mo mhàthair aig obair an-seo cuideachd... Tha i a' teagasg daonn-eòlas. (Tha mo theaghlach glè acadaimigeach!) Bidh mi ag obair aig an taigh-tasgaidh iasgaich na h-Alba bho àm gu àm.

Rachel, my dad works at the divinity department at the University of St Andrews. He teaches church history. Do you like divinity? I have friends who study theology, but I prefer history. My friend was studying religious education in Glasgow, at the University of Strathclyde. I'm a student. I study medieval history at the University of St Andrews. My mother works there too... She teaches anthropology. (My family is very academic!) I work at the Scottish Fisheries Museum from time to time.
