cuir suas - to put up (e.g. a tent, shelves, pictures)

an-sin - there

a' dol suas an staidhre - going up the stairs

And when there's no motion,
Bha mi shuas an staidhre nuair a thàinig iad.
I was upstairs when they came.

Adelheid - sorry I don't know German (which might be similar), but with "upstairs" perhaps you're thinking of Norwegian "ovenpå". In both English and Gaelic (and in Welsh) it is usual to use "stairs" (upstairs, downstairs, suas/shuas an staidhre - see Alasdair's post, sìos/shìos an staidhre - likewise) in such expressions.

Mòran taing !
Tha mi a' smaoineachadh gu bheil mi a' tuigsinn an fhacal "suas/shuas" :) .
I think , I have understood the word "shuas/suas" (and the application).

Uill, tha an samhradh dìreach a' tòiseachadh an seo, ach tha mi an dòchas gum bidh ùine agam airson fòis fhaighinn.
Bha na mìosan sa chaidh uabhasach trang agus dh'obraich mi tòrr. Tha mi a' dèanamh fiughair mhòr ris an leabhar a leughadh a cheannaich mi o chionn fhada. 'S e Teas an t-ainm a tha air an leabhar seo.
Bu toil leam a bhith a-muigh air an rothair, agus leabhar a leughadh nuair a ghabhas mi fois mar eisimpleir. Nach biodh sin math?
Bidh mi deiseil le corra gnìomhan chun deireadh an ath sheachdain agus is gu math dh'fhaoidte gum bi an samhradh mar as toil leam :D

Chaidh mi fhìn agus an càirdean agam gu Alba Nuadh. Bha sinn ann airson ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig. Ghabh sinn an cùrsa-bogaidh agus choinneach sinn iomadh duine aig a bheil Gàidhlig, fiù duine a rugadh 's a thogadh leis a Gàidhlig. Dh'ionnsaich sinn móran Ghàidhlig ach a-nis tha fios 'm gur feumas mi móran Ghàidhlig ag ionnsachadh fhathast. 'S ann spòrsail a bha an turas co dhiù. Ach aig an ceann an turais bha an eanchainn agam-sa uabhasach sgìth.

tr*nsl*t**n of what I think I said:
My friends and I went to Nova Scotia. We were there to learn Gaelic. We took a immersion course and met many Gaelic speakers, including native speakers. We learned a lot of Gaelic but now I know I need to learn a lot more. It was a fun trip anyway. But at the end of the trip my brain was very tired.

Rinn thu uabhasach math! Meal do naidheachd!
Agus tha mi glè thoilichte gum b' e cothrom cho sgoinneil's a bh' agad agus cothrom cho tlachdmhor. Chan eil a h-uile duine cho fortanach 's a bhios iad ag ionnsachadh ann an aireanneachd mar sin.

You did really well! Congratulations!
And I am very happy that you had such a great opportunity, and such an enjoyable one. Not everyone is so fortunate as to learn in such an envirinment.
