Gheibhear na beachdan abhaisteach leis an artagail seo san Scotland on Sunday ach 's e beachd na bhrionn aig Hugh Andrew na a tha inntinneach. Tha e airson Gàidhlig a chàineadh fhad's a tha a chompanaidh (Birlinn) a' togail airgid a chultar na Gàidhlig.

"Hugh Andrew, who runs Edinburgh publishers Birlinn, said: "Edinburgh has never really been a Gaelic language speaking area, and Gaelic doesn't even have a modern grammar, yet we are engaged in this lunacy. What is being spent is probably equivalent to the entire budget that's spent on Scottish literature." "

Boycott Birlinn?

Dè fon ghrèin a tha e a' ciallachadh air "modern grammar"? :?

Augs tha mi seachd searbh sgìth den fhacal "fury"? Càite a bheil an dol-a-mach air na sràidean? Chan eil mi a' faicinn gin dheth...

Tha sin mòran ro dhaor, mo bheachdsa! :olc:

Tha mi airson soidhnichean Gàidhlig, gun teagamh, ach tha dòighean nas saoire ann gu cinnteach. Bidh soidhnichean dà-chànanach ann an àiteachean eile gun leithid de chosgan agus gun leithid de choinnspaid.
Is sgeul mar sin ach connadh dhan tèine den lobaidh an aghaidh Gàidhlig.

Tha na h-iomraidhean gòrach an-còmhnaidh ann, ach an turas seo tha mise a' tuigsinn - gu ìre - an fhearg aca.
Chan fhaod sinn a bhith airson h-uile rud, gun chàineadh, a-mhàin air sgàth 's gu bheil am facal 'Gàidhlig' ann.

Gu dearbh fhéin, chan eil an cosg a' tighinn bhon a' Ghàidhlig. Chan eil adhbhar fon gréin gum bitheadh eadar-theangachadh a cosgadh fiu 's part beag den aireamh 'ud.

Feumaidh gu bheil iad a' bruidhinn ri "design agency" no coireagan (well, one can't have ugly signs in one's gallery, you know) -- 's e sin a tha as cosgaile....

Chuir Gallaraidhean Nàiseanta na h-Alba an teachdaireachd seo a-mach na bu thràithe an-diugh:

"Like all national bodies we are required by law to carry out a consultation plan as part the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005. Any measures that we take forward will have to be proportionate, appropriate and absorbed within existing budgets. The speculative figures of the Gaelic Language plan costing £1 million are complete nonsense."

Tha mi toilichte sin a chluinntinn, mòran taing a rithist, Art, ach cha bhi duine sam bith am measg nan amadan àbhaisteach ag èisteachd ris, saoilidh mi. Chan e sin a bhios iad ag iarraidh èisteachd. :(

Agus tha an t-eagal orm gum bi am plana gu math daor a dh'aindheon sin, leis gu bheil iad ann an Dùn Èideann agus nan ionad 'prestige'. 'S math dh'fhaoidte gu bheil ceart na cùisean aig Niall Beag leis na design agencies... :spors:

Carson a bhiodh iad a' bruidhinn Gàidhlig leis na Fraingich 's na Gearmailtich, ach Cuimris ris na Spàinntich...? :spors:

Tha mise tuigs carson a chosgadh e uiread a dh'airgead. Chan e dìreach sanasachd a th' anns a' phlana aca. Na leugh sibh an rud gu lèir?

A-màireach bidh mi air post gu lèir a sgrìobhadh air an cuspair seo air mo bhlog: http://lagaisnagaidhlig.blogspot.com/20 ... gaidh.html

Tha beachdan ann bhon Daily Mail cuideachd, is bhiodh e math beagan deasbad fhaighinn orra. Tha mi a' dol le Ailean Massie... Ach, niste gu bheil fios agam nach bi na soighneachan a' cosg £1M, tha mi "on the fence" mar a chanas ud.

'Gaelic signs sory misses the point'

http://news.scotsman.com/letters/Letter ... 6721143.jp
Letter: Gaelic signs story misses the pointPublished Date: 20 February 2011
There is a useful debate to be had about the extent to which national bodies should promote the Gaelic language in Scotland.
However, your article suggesting that NGS is poised to spend vast sums of money on signage in Gaelic was not only misleading but also distracts attention away from serious discussion.

To clarify, like all national bodies in Scotland, we are required by law to carry out a consultation plan as part of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005. This consultation is now under way but any measures that we might eventually take forward to promote the Gaelic language at NGS will be proportionate, appropriate and covered within our existing (extremely modest) marketing budget. As anyone who actually refers to the draft proposals can tell, the huge costs mentioned in your article for implementing a Gaelic language plan are complete fantasy.....
