"THE head of a Gaelic pre-school organisation which closes at the end of this month because funding has been withdrawn by Government quango Bord na Gaidhlig has spoken of his fears for the future of the language.

Finlay Macleoid, chief executive of TAIC, is one of seven staff in Inverness being made redundant, along with a post in Glasgow.

Two of the Inverness staff have applied for new roles as early support workers.

Over 29 years, TAIC has set up a network of 240 pre-school groups, 50 Gaelic medium schools and Gaelic-in-the-home courses."
