'Blas na Gàidhlig' (Gaelic pronunciation) air Amazon

Unread post by faoileag »

Tha mi glè thoilichte gum bi an leabhar le ball FnaG Mìchael Bauer / Akerbeltz ri fhaotainn (pre-order) air Amazon a-nis:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blas-Na-Gaidhli ... 1907165002

Bha Mìchael ag obair air an leabhar fad bhliadhnaichean agus 's e goireas uabhasach feumail a bhios ann!

Meal do naidheachd, a Mhìchael! :moladh:

(Tha an cuspair seo ri leughadh air raon 'Dà-chànanach' air an Fhòram, ach tha mi a' smaoineachadh gur e seo an t-àite nas fhreagarraiche dha. )

If this was likely to be in any of the Edinburgh bookshops, I'd be out the door right now.

I think some shops have their systems in a twist because it was originally set for publication 31 March. But it's out and you'd actually be doing me a big favour if you walked into a shop like Waterstones (in particular) and asked them to order it. They'll umm and err and say they're not sure they can get it but go for it. The order WILL come through.

Unless you'd rather I went to Blackwell's -- they're into all the geeky stuff... I mean academic material. ;-)

Blackwells is good too, whichever is nearer to you :)

Just to remind folks, the sounds are now available on Foillseachadh Akerbeltz

Waterstone's were reeeeeeally reluctant to take my order. They kept trying to convince me to buy it direct from the publisher....

'S bochd sin -- chan urrain dhomh an cluinntinn. Chan eil fhios agam carson: "blue play buttons" gives me an error: "Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip:" -- that's all (Sounds_Blas_pages001-078.pdf).

Try updating your Acrobat, maybe you are running an older version.

Thank you for persisting. It goes something like this... some bookshops (including Waterstones) tend to buy only from their main supplier, in this case a bunch called Gardners. Gardners will only "supply" it (generally speaking) if they've decided they want it and that usally means screwing the publisher/author over price. That's how the "system" works. But the thing is, as long as it's a book in print, especially in the UK, there's no reason why any bookshop linked into Bookweb should not be able to order any title. I appreciate your help in twisting the system a bit!

Ok I'm a little worried now. I've had lots of people test my pdfs and only my brother in Germany had a problem - the same as you. I didn't understand it when he had it and I still don't. Have you tried using the free pdf Creator software?

I had problems the first time I tried (the blue button didn't work, same error message), but I tried again on another day, and although it was slow to load and required me to approve the site, the buttons now work. (Agus tha mi glè thoilichte leotha! :D )

While the Adobe wasn't working, I clicked on the PDFCreator link on the page, but got an error message, showing a wrong website:

wwwmhàforge.org

I googled PDFCreator and found it here:

http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator

Hope this helps!

Yikes, thanks. I've let Rhoda know, I'm sure she'll fix the link quickly. Also let me know how you're getting on with the sound problems, if this is more widespread than I expected first, I might have to come up with other solutions.
