Gaelic on Twitter

Unread post by Fionaj »

Twitter can be useful as well as being a 'chatter' site! I began posting wee Tweets in Gaelic for fun initially, about 6 months or so ago,and linked them to downloadable podcasts on my website and folk really seem to enjoy them - because tweets are no longer than 140 characters, they are easily retainable and I use phrases which folk actually want to be able to use. If you want to follow them, my tweet name is 'Gaelicsinger'. Podcasts at www.fionamackenzie.org/Gaelic_Podcasts

Thanks for the reminder, Fiona!

There's actually quite a lot of Gaelic on Twitter these days.

It's getting easier for learners to tackle or supplement daily practice via bite-sized portions, e.g. Fiona's site http://twitter.com/Gaelicsinger , or

http://twitter.com/CorrectGaelic (phrases, proverbs etc with pronunciation)

http://twitter.com/Learn_Gaelic (useful words, phrases and expressions with pronunciation)

http://twitter.com/anseotal (specialist vocab)

or to read the tweets of Gaelic journalists etc:

http://twitter.com/iainmacaonghais

http://twitter.com/coinneachbbc

or to get links to longer articles, eg the BBC news in Gaelic:

http://twitter.com/bbcnaidheachdan

or the Gaelic Society of Inverness 's news stream:

http://twitter.com/GSInewsteam

or sign up to all the aggregated Gaelic-tagged tweets via

http://twitter.com/GaelicTweets

No excuses now!
