The trigger for his 'more in sorrow than in anger' article is the recent blown-up compaints about wasting (gulp) TWO THOUSAND POUNDS on the translations for Gaelic audio-guides in the Scottish Parliament.
Among various other points and arguments he offers examples of more wasteful expenditure, e.g. the sums lost to the Exchequer through GiftAid to fee-paying schools.
And I like this bit:
The Gaidheal's problem is that we've been here too long and people can't understand why we didn't die off with the dinosaurs. Let's not be over-hasty to oblige.
