The Digital Archive of Scottish Gaelic is an online repository of digitised texts and lexical resources for Scottish Gaelic. DASG has two main components, Corpas na Gàidhlig and the Fieldwork Archive.

Although there is still more research to be done, Ainmean-Àite na h-Alba have published their database on the web. You can find it here. It is already a valuable resource for place names.

A new online gazetteer providing a single authoritative source of information on Gaelic place-names was launched today (19 August 2010) at The Highland Council's Gaelic Committee.

The National Gazetteer of Gaelic Place-names is the culmination of 10 years of research by Ainmean-Àite na h-Alba (AÀA), the national advisory partnership to research and establish Gaelic place-names.

In the form of an online database the gazetteer offers definitive forms which can be used by local authorities, the media, researchers, local communities, walkers and climbers or anyone with an interest in place-names. The gazetteer includes historical information, local sources and sound files to help with pronunciation.

Like the Scottish Isles, the various Celtic communities are geographically separated from one another but are increasingly reaching out to share strategies, success stories, advice, and friendship. Encouraging and fostering Celtic interconnectedness is an important part of NAACLT's mission.

The conference will be held June 9-12, 2010 at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

Survey of Adult Learners of Gaelic

Adult Gaelic learners can participate in the 2009 survery which you can find here. The results of this survey will be used to inform future language planning. The survey takes 15-20 minutes to complete and can be saved part way through. The closing date for completion is 1st November 2009.

The role of adult learners in the Gaelic world is an important one. Adult learners contribute to revitalisation efforts through their commitment to the language, whether by attending courses, purchasing Gaelic materials, sending their children through Gaelic-medium education, or many other ways.
This survey was commissioned by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, and is being carried out by the department of Celtic & Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh. The survey aims to find out who is learning Gaelic, what they are learning, where they are learning, how they are learning, and, most importantly, why they are learning. The results of this survey will be used to inform future language planning.
