Level of Gàidhlig through self study

Feasgar maith I was cleaning out my files and stumbled across my English diploma, it has been a couple of years but the mark caught my eye. It said that my proficiency level was C1. And I wondered about Gàidhlig, I can't seem to find to what level most self-study books go. I see myself as an absolut...

Re: Introducing myself

Hi, welcome!
I don't yet know how to welcome you in Gàidhlig so that's why I do it in English.
Kind regards.

Re: Mòr or mór?

Modern books tend not to use these, as the Scottish Exam Board unilaterally decided to eliminate the acute accent (´) about 40 years ago. The whole reform was a botch job designed more or less as an invention of spelling mistakes so that they could mark people wrong in exams. That can't be the real...

Mòr or mór?

Hi there, I have quite an old book to help me learn Gaelic, and I noticed little differences when I try to read Gaelic online. I found that in my book they write mór, whilst online I can find that they do not longer use it like that. In fact I think they changed every word into using it like: ò ù à ...

Improving

Gàidhlig Beurla I only practice and learn Gaelic as a hobby, but I am so very thrilled when I find I actually am improving. But I do find it hard to participate here because I am the ultimate beginner. I combine my book with the tv episodes on youtube. I was wondering if anyone would like to look at...

Words with and without adding the -h-

So I have this bookk called Teach yourself Gaelic. It says you have to add the -h when the noun is feminine. However, I got confused by this: tr*nsl*t*: Yes, James is very big. My try: Tha, tha Seamus glé mór. However the book says it is supposed to be: Tha, tha Seamus glé mhór. Why? James is mascul...
