Grammar Check please? Family members

I'm a beginner as well. This looks like an interesting question to see if I understand the grammar I've been reading about. The challenge for me is always whether I can apply the grammar I've read about to complete sentences. I think there are other options for these sentences and I'm wondering if a...

Speaking Our Language on Youtube

No doubt you are right about the copyright issue. I think recent Bannan episodes were posted - which might have caused the problem. I had been watching Machair and Speaking Our Language - and I think all those episodes were posted. It was a great resource for learners without access to BBC options (...

Speaking Our Language on Youtube

Thank you. The Learngaelic site is very helpful because it includes the Gaelic and English text shown for the video clips that it has. I did enjoy having the entire 25 minute programs available on youtube though! I might have to locate and purchase the DVDs now! :)

Speaking Our Language on Youtube

Does anyone know what has happened to the Speaking Our Language programs on Youtube? All of them seem to have been removed with the Youtube "taken down for copyright violations" notice in place. I think the user account name was Macsteaphain or Leodhasach. These are a great resource for le...

Halò!

Here is the book list I mentioned above. Books I used while taking ACI - Gaelic by Roderick MacKinnon – 35 chapters titled with the Grammar topic covered. Each chapter has a list of key points for that topic and practice exercises. From the 1970s so it uses old spelling methods. Extremely helpful in...

Experiences with An Cùrsa Inntrigidh

I finished Cùrsa Inntrigidh in 2017, then spent a year taking a first year Gaelic course with another school (while reviewing all my Inntrigidh notes and files), and was recently accepted into An Cùrsa Adhartais to start this autumn. Prior to starting Cùrsa Inntrigidh in 2016, I had spent several ye...

Access to taic.me.uk website for learners?

Thank you for posting this. I don't use facebook, so I miss notices placed there. Could the forum host the information? I could help with proof-reading or commenting on content that seems confusing to me as a learner -- or other tasks as well if someone could define them.

Access to taic.me.uk website for learners?

I have been unable to get to the taic.me.uk site for a day or two. It's a great site and very helpful for learners. I've also tried clicking the "taic" links from a couple of other Scottish Gaelic websites - which also don't work. Is there a reason for this (the message I get is asking for...

All the main verb tenses in Gàidhlig, no more mystery!

Brigh nam Facal has a list of abbreviations and terms 2 pages prior to the verb tables. The table headings are included and an English “equivalent” is shown. Using this list, I think the labels for the 2 verb tables on most pages could also be called “active voice” and “passive voice” (spreigeach or...

Dative or prepositional case

Hi - I'm a beginner myself. To your question, you could try Scottish Gaelic in 12 Weeks (O Maolalaigh, 2008) - Lesson 6, Sections 46 and 47 (page67 in my copy) on "The Prepositional Case," followed by using the index under "prepositional (dative) case" and "prepositions"...
