Halò, a Mhurchaidh

Halò, a chait (i.e. greeting some unknown feline)

One way to remember that it's an-diugh and not an-duigh is the pronunciation:

an-duigh - this would sound something like an doo
an-diugh - this gets the dyoo sound because of the slender vowel

Apologies for the non-IPA phonetics, but hopefully you get the point.

Do you actually have Scottish Gaelic in 12 Weeks? Silly title aside, it's a great book - covers everything. The inversion bit is a slightly ropy (Cothrom Ionnsachaidh by Ronald Black has a much better overview of verbal noun forms and inversion) , but that apart it's a cracking read. Extremely gramm...

As an aside, I've never seen do 'n. For what it's worth I've been learning Gaelic for a couple of years and I'm struggling to remember seeing math math more than once, whereas I've seen glè mhath a gazillion times. Make of that what you may.

It's not so much Càite a, it's Càite followed by the relevant interrogative particle, followed by the dependent form of the verb: Càite a bheil thu? - Where are you? Càite an robh thu? -Where were you? Càite am bi thu? - Where will you be? Càite am biodh tu? - Where would you be? Càite an do chluich...

The good thing about ACI is that you have a structure as well as obligations, deadlines and exams. I didn't find it difficult, but it did take up a lot of my time i.e. 8-10 hours a week.

In my experience, Dè is always followed by the noun (with article) as in your first example - "What is the colour which will be on them/What colour will they be?" Does that mean the second one is wrong? Probably not, just not as common. However, I'm sure others can give more detailed respo...

As an aside my learning path has been:

- An Cùrsa Inntrigidh at Sabhal Mòr (18 months)
- Scottish Gaelic in 12 Weeks (took me a couple of months)

I haven't mixed things too much. Now I'm working through the An Litir Beag section on LearnGaelic.

That rule of thumb was given to me by Mr Akerbeltz himself. As I said, it hasn't failed me yet.

So, I have a point of reference, except that I need the special bhitheas/bhios form to follow 'that' for the future. Not sure what you mean by "that". Bhios is the future relative and will follow the likes of ma, a, na etc. Wherever you might think to put Bidh, make it Bhios is if follows...
