Duighleadasan a bhith faighinn BBC RnG air am fòn agam

Tha mi air a bhith ag èisteachd ri Radio nan Gaidheal air an iphone agam bhon chionn corra bliadhnaichean. Ach bho rudeigin mar mìos air ais, chan eil mi air a bhith a'faighinn RnG idir an am fòn agam. An toiseach 's e an app Tunein a stad o bhith a'faighinn RnG ach bha mi comasach co-dhiù ri èistea...

"There are two things that non-natives don't do: tr*nsl***** into the language and proof-read the language." Disagree. Re-occurring theme, that only native speakers get good in a language. Montreal is filled with people who have become very good in another language. If I were interviewing ...

Saoilidh mi gur e 'deasachadh' am facal a tha ag iarraidh. "I've been studying Spanish just as long as he's been studying Gaelic, and while I can fool people into thinking I'm Spanish..." I think it depends partly on how you attack the problem. For myself, my exposure to French began as a ...

Re: Bilingualism to save minority languages

Tha cuimhne agam aig an àm, bha tiotal an dàin "Speak White" na sheòrsa de fhacal-faire, ag innse dhan fhear eile am beachd a bh'agadsa air a'chùis. Nuair bha mi san sgoil fhraingeach, mar bu thrice rachadh faclan beurla a leantainn le faclan eile "parle français" neo na bu threa...

Re: Bilingualism to save minority languages

Sna seasgadan, ghabh na Quebecois am beachd gu robh dà-chànanachas gam marbhadh, gu robh dà-chànanachas a'ciallachadh gun ionnsaicheadh am fraingeach a'bheurla. 'S ann air sgàth sin gun do theann iad, ann an Québec, laghan chuir an gnìomh a thug prìomhachas ('s chan e co-ionnanas) dhan fhraingis.

Re: My least favourite myth....

I'll add this. Our family language situation similar to that described by Alasdair. I speak Gàighlig to my youngest. She would be quite content to let me speak Gàidhlig to her and her respond in English. Simple stuff she responds in Gàidhlig, but anything beyond that she'd rather use English. Becaus...
