Cait' Caite/ bheil

Thank you, GunChleoc. That's what I figured.

Any explanation for cait a bheil, caite a bheil, and caite bheil? Is it all pretty much the same thing, just different spellings to account for that similar sound of caite a bheil? Typos? Or an actual difference in meaning?

Many thanks for your help.

Cait' Caite/ bheil

Hi,

Can someone explain cait' vs caite (where?) and when to use bheil vs using a bheil ?

My lesson book has cait/caite in the dictionary at the back but only ever uses cait' that I can see. Is this just shortening the word, as we do in English with contractions? They never explain, that I can find ...

Definite Artlcle: Good Resource or Chart?

Is there a good, single source for all the definite articles, and which to use in which case, gender, plural/singular, initial letters, and so on?

I'm slowly compiling one from multiple sources, but surely I'm re-inventing the wheel?

I assume you mean to type "anns a'/anns an"...? "ann an" is just "in" or "in a".
Thank you for the clarification!

'in the' anns an vs sa/san

I did some looking--sa/san is the contraction for anns an, is that correct?

'in the' anns an vs sa/san

As I once again take up Gaelic, I notice that one source uses ann an/ anns an for 'in the' and another gives me sa/san.

Are these both right, and if so is there a difference in when you use one form vs the other?

Re: Ciamar a tha an t-sìde / How's the weather?

A question:

I found this site http://www.educationscotland.gov.uk/Images/GaelicEarlyStagesCourseEA_tcm4-401490.pdf that uses e for the weather. Ie, Tha e grianach.

Earlier in this thread, it was discussed that weather is feminine but possibly e could be used if the underlying meaning was 'the day ...

I have always had verb tables in books, so I've never checked on the net for them. Try checking the Appendices of the Taic course - link on top of this page
