Re: A h-ochd (#8) - Dè rinn sibh as t-samhradh?

Chaidh mi fhìn agus an càirdean agam gu Alba Nuadh. Bha sinn ann airson ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig. Ghabh sinn an cùrsa-bogaidh agus choinneach sinn iomadh duine aig a bheil Gàidhlig, fiù duine a rugadh 's a thogadh leis a Gàidhlig. Dh'ionnsaich sinn móran Ghàidhlig ach a-nis tha fios 'm gur feumas mi ...

Re: Fàilte! Welcome new learners!

Mòran taing, thanks for the corrections. Tha an t-sìde snog mar as abhiast. Anns an samhradh, tha i teth and bruthainneach agus anns a geamhradh tha i fluich agus fuar. Is fheàrr leam earrach agus foghar. The weather is nice usually. In the summer, it is hot and humid and in the winter it is cold an...

Halo, Is mise Breandán. Well I am kinda late posting here. I have been a member of the fòram for awhile now. I don't post often mostly because I can't follow the threads. Anyway, I want to make this the year that I make a greater effort to try and get past that perpetual beginner stage. I am current...

Blas na Gàidhlig-Exercise 40

Vowel set 01-I am having problems hearing the difference between the regular (e) and the (open e) in this exercise. I did fine with the rest of the vowel sets, but this one is tricky. Any tips? or just keep listening.

Móran taing

I have seen "Róisín" as an Irish name quite a bit. I believe it means little rose.

Re: leig fodhad

That is basically the understanding I got. In the story after that phrase is said the stick flys around beating on the old men. I guess "let under" is a way to say another way to say beating.

leig fodhad

Dè tha "leig fodhad" a' ciallachadh? It is for a story I am tr*nsl*t*ng for my Gàidhlig class. The story is called "Baran na Gaoithe". I looked up both words but it doesn't seem to make sense when I put them together. If it helps to put them in context here is the passage "U...
