Re: Back on the rails again...

How are you getting to hear Derek live?? It's still telling me it's unavailable live, but I can now get the shows on replay (couldn't for awhile). We're going very slowly on Muriel's course...only about half a page per week. Pronunciation's going to be the big thing with my son because he can't roll...

Re: Back on the rails again...

I was wondering where you've been, since we haven't been active on Pluto's page since the Olympics (I really miss that!). We're trying (once again) with Muriel's course 1, and I'm determined to get past the first couple of pages this time. :priob: I'm even requiring my son to practice with our frien...

Re: What Made You Want To Learn Gàidhlig?

Good question! :) It's because when I first heard of Gàidhlig, it was called "Gàidhlig". And I say that to differentiate it from "Gaelic", which to me refers to Irish Gaelic (and, yes, I know it's actually called Gaelige). 99.9% of Americans who have even heard of Gaelic in gener...

Re: What Made You Want To Learn Gàidhlig?

I don't know how I missed this thread... I've always wanted to learn a different language (I just like being "different" in general :priob: ). Foreign language wasn't offered in school, though, until 9th grade (age 14), and then it was only Spanish. I didn't want to do what "everybody...

That's what I call it (technically, it's coffee with almond milk :priob: ), but I thought I saw "white coffee" somewhere as "cofaidh geal". :-s Oh, well...

Tha mi ag ithe chan eil càil. Tha mi ag òl cofaidh geal.

I'm not eating anything. I am drinking white coffee (is that what you call coffee with milk?).

Re: Dè tha thu a' dèanamh? / What are you doing?

Nuair nach bi mi cinnteach, lorgaidh mi san eadar-lìon rudan a bhios coltach ris an abairt agam. Tha sin a' cuideachadh dhomh gu tric, ged nach fhaigh mi an fhìrinn dheireannach mar sin. When I'm not sure, I search in the Ingernet something similar to my phrase. It helps me very often, though I'll ...

Re: How are things going?

Well, I got a little lax in my Gàidhlig over the past few months, with the end of the school year and springtime pipe band competition season. :naire: As I'm now preparing my lesson plans for the fall (I homeschool my 13 year old son), I'm mapping out Muriel Fisher's Level 1 course for both of us to...

Re: How are things going?

My "Gaelic buddy" (a bit more advanced learner than I) communicates with me primarily via text, and we haven't seen each other in person since before Christmas. I try to text him sometimes in Gaelic when I can remember how to spell things, and he sometimes gets it and sometimes doesn't...e...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radionangaidheal/ :)

It does stream, but it also has most of the programs available to listen to for a week after they're aired.

Chaidh mi a Dùn Éideann...Florida! :priob:

Yes, there is a town in Florida called Dunedin. My husband's family lives there. :)
