Yep, sounds like it.

And yes, swear words are not taboo here in any shape or form. They are an important part of language learning, even if you don't plan on using them yourself.

This is more a matter of syntax than of the meaning being modal verbs in English - I guess most of the stuff you would express with a modal verb in English does fall into this category though.

Feumaidh mi seo a dhèanamh
Bu toigh leam seo a dhèanamh
Tha mi ag iarraidh seo a dhèanamh

No, you repeat the verb in positive or negative form, including the tense. Just like in Portugese.

So, it's "tha" only if the quesion started with "a bheil" or "nach eil"
