Re: Dè tha thu a' dèanamh? / What are you doing?

Tha mi air tilleadh an-dràsda as dèidh sia seachdainean ann an Alba. Bha tòrr Ghàidhlig ann agus bha an t-sìde grianach cuid as motha na h-ùine.

I have just returned from six weeks in Scotland. There was lots of Gàidhlig and it was sunny most of the time.

Re: Ciamar a tha an t-sìde / How's the weather?

Macfarlane's and my old printed Dwelly's gives dèarrsadh and McBain gives deàrrsadh and so does Colin Mark. Online Dwelly's says dearrsadh . I have also been taught that the double rr would make the srac redundant anyway as the a would be long by default. Is Macfarlane wrong or has the word changed ...

Moran taing. Bha e brèagha a-muigh an-dè gu dearbh. Toisichidh na clasaichean an-diugh ged a shaoil am bi tuilleadh ri ionnsachadh anns a' chanteen na anns a' chlass (a' bruidhinn ri daoine anns a' Ghàidhlig). ;) Thanks. It was beautiful outside yesterday. Classes start today, although I wonder if t...

I'll do that Faoileag. Thanks for your good wishes I'll be in some pretty remote places without computer or phone (is th...

Re: Daoine le Gàidhlig bho thùs

Be reasonable. Unless your pronunciation is very good, a native speaker unused to learners won't be able to understand you at all, and will immediately switch to English. I've had the same experience from the other side with South East Asian learners of English, but unfortunately I can't switch to V...

Ceart gu leòr a Thrissel agus a Ghràisg, ach bha mi a' ciallachadh an "tit-for-tat" point scoring a tha mi a' faicinn air na pàipeirean naidheachd. "Never wrestle with a pig. You'll both get dirty but the pig enjoys it." :D Tha na h-ath-sgriobhaidhean dhen t-seòrsa mar a sgriobh Art na rudan eile ui...

Tha mi buileach cinnteach gur e "attention seekers" a th' annta. And we react every time (me too). Saoil, an sgitheadh iad air a' chuis mur a bhi freagairtean idir ann? Tha làn fhios aig daoine ciallach gur e sgudal a th' ann, so why worry. We won't convince the idiots anyway.
