Verbal nouns vs infinitives for the present tense, and 2 to 3 consecutive verbs.

Hi again, thanks for the reply. I'd say I'm about lower intermediate level. I'm not a beginner, and can say a fair few things in Gaelic, hold basic conversations etc, but I'm certainly not advanced either. I need to study the grammar of the verb tenses more, and then build up my vocabulary for the m...

'Speaking Our Language' series 4 - does anyone have the episodes?

22902 I think LearnGaelic has them all. It seems that the content on learngaelic.net for 'Speaking Our Language' is more a summary of the main points taught in each episode, as well as the Gaelic drama series, rather than the full episodes. I suppose it would suffice, but it means I might have to a...

Is there anywhere to read news, sports news, music news etc in Gàidhlig on the internet?

Thanks, I'll check that out! Are there any other ones too? I guess with Gaelic being a minority language, sources like that are a bit thin on the ground.

'Speaking Our Language' series 4 - does anyone have the episodes?

I've been going through the well known Gàidhlig learner's programme 'Speaking Our Language' this year, and have completed the first 3 series'. All the episodes to these series' are on Youtube, however only the first 4 episodes of series 4 are on Youtube. Has anyone got the series 4 episodes on their...

Is there anywhere to read news, sports news, music news etc in Gàidhlig on the internet?

I often read (or watch/listen to) news, sports news, music news etc in other languages like Spanish, German etc and it's easy enough to find many media websites on the internet for this. However, where can I read the news and other current affairs in Gàidhlig - are there any such media websites in G...

No. Not in Gaelic infinitive-like constructions. The ag only ever makes a participle. Ok, I think I was getting confused with the rule that 'ag' goes before verbal nouns beginning with vowels, and 'a' ' goes before ones that being with a consonant. But I read the section in Taic about 'infinitives'...

Ok thanks for the reply. I read the article you linked to and I think it makes sense to me a bit more now, though I'll have to read it a few more times for it all to sink in 100%. So in other words, there is no actual infinitive form in Gàidhlig - it's just a verbal noun with 'a', which gives it the...

I have some confusion about how to express the present tense in Gàidhlig, particularly with 2 or 3 consecutive verbs. Verbal nouns are making it so confusing. It seems verbal nouns in Gàidhlig are used to describe the present progressive tense, i.e. something you are in the process of doing at a par...

Polyglot learning Gàidhlig.

Halo. Is mise Neil. Tha mi a Sasann, agus tha mi a' fuireach ann an Inbhir Nis a-nis.

In addition to English, I also speak Spanish, German and Japanese and I'm trying to reach fluency in Gàidhlig. Nice to meet you all :)
