'A thoirt leam' vs 'còmhla rium fhin' for 'with me'

Think of còmhla ri (in its various guises) as "in the company of" rather than simply "with".

Fàgail vs falbh for 'leaving', is there any difference?

There has to be an object with fàgail. Think of it as "leave something" i.e. a' fàgail Glaschu, fàg an sashimi ud... but falbh doesn't need one i.e. tha mi a' falbh and can't actually take one unless you slap it on with a prep i.e. a' falbh leis a' ghaoith.

Help interpret song recording?

Tricky one ... she's not easy to understand. I've made the following amendments, maybe someone else can pick out something based on that? The -s in bhois goes with the 's in the following line, pretty sure. Bheir mi ò hu ò hò bheir mi ò hu ò hì bheir mi òro eile bhò 's mi fo leòn ga do dhìth 'S ioma...

Help interpret song recording?

She sings fo leòn, not fo leamhan :priob:

It would help if you posted what you have transcribed so far so we don't have to do it from scratch? Just makes it a bit quicker.

Island Voices Moot?

Seadh, tha mi ag aontachadh, bhiodh e nas fheàrr earrann shònraichte a chruthachadh an-seo na làrach eile - tha e cho doirbh critical mass a lorg - tha fiù an t-àite seo fhèin car sàmhach aig amannan. Agree, better to have a special section on here than a new site, it's so hard to get critical mass,...

Are there any films made in Gàidhlig language?

While not fully in Gaelic, there's a lot of Gaelic in An Ceasnachadh.

From what I've heard, The Eagle doesn't use anything native speakers would recognise as Gaelic.

Cait' Caite/ bheil

Mmm it's mostly down to people not quite getting the way Gaelic sounds and the Gaelic writing system works. Càite is a contraction of an old question word, let's just say c- and àite. Now, how this is exactly pronounced depends on mainly on two questions: a) what comes after the càite and b) where i...

Correct/most natural forms of the conditional tense of 'to be'

There's a chapter in Blas on short and long forms, I forget which page. In particular irregular verbs have long (stressed) and short (unstressed) forms. The variations go from hiatus with emphatic endding > hiatus > long vowel > short vowel > reduced vowel > no vowel, though not all verbs have all &...

Use of Genitive

I don't see the element of possession in bus-sgoile, to be honest. It doesn't necessarily belong to the school, mostly they belong to the council or are some hire company on a council contract 8-)

Use of Genitive

It's the same thing. I think what confuses you is this dratted new term some people introduced, the "possessive case". Not that "genitive" is without problems but I find possessive even more misleading than "genitive". There are 3 (off the top of my head) ways in which ...

Yes, gramatically you're correct though logically, these would require a very odd situation
