Re: Audio recording Teach Yourself Gaelic (R.Mackinnon)

I have limited webspace, so I have never anabled the attachment function. So, you'd have to host the images somewhere else and then link them.

I have an old edition of teach yourself Gaelic with an audio cassette. Send me a PM if you want it and we'll figure out how to get it to you.

Re: a' rocking and a' rolling

I can't tell - I'd need them in context, since I'm not familiar with them. I do know one that's similar though: cha b' e ruith ach leum. You can find some examples in the Faclair Beag.

Re: Writing/speaking a bit of Gaelic, any feedback/corrections appreciated

No, it's a spelling thing. toil (noun) is pronounced /tɔl/ toigh (adjective) is pronounced /tɤj/ and used in the expression An toigh leat... 's toigh l' So, when you say "Is toil leam", you should still pronounce it /tɤl/, but the spelling suggests that it should be pronounced /tɔl/ which is wrong. ...

It looks like you're having trouble typing the accents - you can get some buttons here by using the "Full reply" function which has more options. Or even better, install a better keyboard layout - instructions: http://www.igaidhlig.net/en/category/accented-letters/

That's fine, as long as you do it in Gaelic. For practice! Making mistakes is part of the process ;)

Re: No you better don't

Now you have me checking my grammar books  Michel Byrne: No vowel example William Lamb: na ithibh sin Richard Cox: "tha analachadh ro fhuaimreag ion-teasgaidh: na h-ith sin! na ith sin!" So, you're right and it's optional. I just hadn't come across it yet. Thank you for questioning my statement!
