Chan eil fios agam dè a chanas tu ri cat. Cha chreid mi nach dèan "Thalla!" a chùis.
'S e "a bhith", gu dearbh!

Is toigh leam fhìn "thalla!"; tha mi den bheachd gum bi cat ga thuigsinn.

Bha mi ann am baile snog o chionn ghoirid; ’s e Pärnu anns an Eastoin a tha ann.
Agus a-nis tha mi a’ dol a dhèanamh m’ obair bhon TYG (Aonad 22).
Tha agam ri sgrìobhadh dè bhithinn fhìn a’ dèanamh nam faighinn mòran airgid mar dhuais aon latha...

Uill, nam faighinn fhìn mòran airgid aon latha, rachainn dhan Eastoin còmhla ri m’ athair.
Cheannaicheamaid taigh ann am Pearnu ri taobh na mara.
Cha bhiodh an taigh sin mòr, ach bhiodh e snog gu dearbh, shaoilinn gum biodh e geal no buidhe, le mullach leacag ruadh.
Chumamaid flùraichean dearg, geal, buithe agus gorm anns a’ ghàrradh againn.
Choisicheamaid tro phàircean agus air an tràigh a h-uile latha.
Agus chitheamaid am muir sa mhadainn agus gach feasgar; nach biodh sin math?

Ach gu mì-fhortanach, chan eil mi cinnteach gum bithinn fhìn math air gairneilearachd.
Agus nam faighnicheadh tu dè bhithinn a’ dèanamh ann am Pearnu a bharrachd, agus am faighinnsa obair sam bith ann, chan fhaodainn dad a fhreagairt.
Dh’fheumadh tu Eastoinis ionnsachadh nam biodh tu a’ dol a dh’obair san Eastoin. Seo aon rud a dh’fhaodainn a ràdh le cinnt.
Chanainn gum biodh e fada na b’ fheàrr nam fuirichinn san Ruis mar a b’ àbhaist agus gum bithinn ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig, nach biodh? Bhitheadh gu dearbh.
’S dòcha gun rachainn a Phearnu bho àm gu àm air mo laithean-saora ma tha, agus le seo bhithinn glè thoilichte.
Mar sin, shaoilinn nach fheumainn mòran airgid co-dhiù, ged a dh’fheumainn airgead aison siubhal agus airson leabhraichean Gàidhlig a cheannach. :)

Tha fhios agam mu "the only [N singular]" (the only child etc) a-mhàin.

'S iad na Basgaich na h-aon daoine san t-saoghal aig a bheil leasachan a chuireas an cèill gnè an neach a tha thu a' bruidhinn ris
The Basques are the only people in the world who have a suffix which indicates the gender of the person you're speaking to

mar eisimpleir

Ciamar as urrainn dhut tuigsinn seo bhon cho-theacsa?
Agus ciamar a chanas tu "they can't exist in any case"?
Dè an diofar a bhiodh ann?

I guess the "from each other" is logically implied, rather than literally expressed. It's just that in English you can either use an adverb (they can't exist independently) to express the meaning but if you don't use an adverb, you need something to complete the sentence (i.e. they can't exist independent from each other), you can't just say "they can't exist independent" as that's not grammatical in English.
