Hallò a chairdean!

Tha mi a' rannsachadh ciod e plural an fhacail "brù-dhearg" (robin). 'S e "brù-dheirge" an genitive singular, ach chan eil mi a' faighinn am plural anns na faclairean agam... Brù-dheargan? brùthan-dearga?? rudeigin eile?

tapadh leibh! :)

Tha sin inntinneach!

Lorg mi "brùthan-dearg" san eadar-lìon: an-seo agus msaa.
Tha sin reusanta na mo bheachd-sa.

Ach tha "brù-dheargan" fada nas làidire: wiki agus msaa.

Mar as trice, ann an cunntasan mu dheidhinn fiadh-bheathaichean agus eòin, 's e am facal singilte a th' air a chleachdadh.

Mar eisimpleir: "Bidh a' bhrù-dhearg a' nochdadh aig toiseach a' gheamhraidh....." etc.

ainmear singilte ach collective plural, mar gum b'eadh.

A réir Colin Mark:

"brù-dhearg is really an adj meaning red-bellied and was originally accompanied by the word eun bird which explains why it is masc though brù is fem"

'S mathaid gum mìnich sin carson nach eil e soilleir dé tha an iolra. Bhiodh eòin brù-dearga na iolra tùsail, mar tha mi ceart.

Cha chuirinn no mise ach chuir mi brù-dheargan ann on 's e sin a lorg mi ann an Watson agus ann an Wentworth, ged a tha brùthan-dearga aig Wentworth cuideachd.

Iarann-Brù-dearg...sin robyn làidir...

Sa Bheurla, tha daoine ag ràdh "robin" agus "robin red-breast", le iolra "robins" agus "robin red-breasts". Chan eil mi eòlach air neach a bhiodh ag ràdh "red-breasted robins" no rudeigin a leithid.

Dè as ceart? Chan eil fios agam. Ach cha toil leam "brù-deargan", oir tha seo coltach ri ràdh sa Bheurla "reds-breast"

a camper van/a motor caravan
a pile-up (cars’ accident)
a cardboard box
just in case
in no case/instance
a square/box (as in a form, that you tick or write an answer in, or in an Excel table etc)
from what I can see..., according to what I see...
a CD-Rom
a cent/centime
pork products (like ham, sausages etc – « de la charcuterie » in French)
a toilet flush
I am warm/hot
cinema (as an art, not the place)
a clementine
an indicator (turn signal/blinker of a car)
to flash/twinkle (as a car’s turn signal)

a pile-up (cars’ accident) - 's toil leam "càrnadh" an seo
a cardboard box - 's dòcha "bocsa bòrd-cairt"?
just in case - "ceart anns a' chèis" - chan e! "air eagal a-mhàin"?
in no case/instance - "chan ann eisimpleir sam bith"?
a square/box (as in a form, that you tick or write an answer in, or in an Excel table etc) - faic GC
from what I can see..., according to what I see... - faic GC
a CD-Rom - faic GC: cuideachd "clàr"
a cent/centime - "ceudamh"
pork products (like ham, sausages etc – « de la charcuterie » in French) - "toradh muice"
a toilet flush - "sruthlachadh"
I am warm/hot - faic GC
cinema (as an art, not the place) - 's dòcha "film-eòlas"?
a clementine - 's dòcha "orains chlementin"?
an indicator (turn signal/blinker of a car) - "taisbeanair"
to flash/twinkle (as a car’s turn signal) - 's dòcha "caog" (caogadh)

- ach chan eil mi cinnteach idir!

An urrainn do dhaoine na faclan sin a dhearbhadh neo faclan eile a mholadh, agus na faclan eile a dh'eadar-theangachadh? :) oir chan eil iad uile ann, ar leam :)

to flash/twinkle (as a car’s turn signal) - 's dòcha "caog" (caogadh)
's e "wink, winking" a tha "caog, caogadh" a' ciallachadh, ach an seòrsa "wink fada" ud a nì cuideigin ri cuideigin eile.

to flash/twinkle (as a car’s turn signal) - 's dòcha "caog" (caogadh)

priob, a' priobadh
