Well, if it was called "alltan", it probably wasn't quite as big as the Amazon...a sort of "burnette".

All the "blackwaters" I've googled seem to be rivers - quite a few in Ireland, some even known as "Uisce Dubh". There does appear to be a sizable "Blackwater Lake" in Canada, but it doesn't seem to have a Gaelic name. It does rather look as if it might be inappropriate to tronslote the likes of "Derwentwater" or whatever as "Uisge Doire" etc - really need to use "Loch".
