A rèir an Fhaclair ùir airson Riaghaltas Ionadail, 's e "housing" a th' ann an taigheadas, agus tha iad a' cleachdadh togalach airson "property".

Ma thà, agus ma thathar a' gabhail ri sin, 's e Togalaichean Dùthcha/Dùthchail a bhiodh ann.

Nì sin an gnothach mar eadar-theangachadh facal air an fhacal, ach ciamar a b' urrainn dhuinn dòigh shnasail a lorg na tha e a' ciallachadh a ràdh ann an Gàidhlig gun a bhith cur snaidhm air ar teangannan?

Tha fhios a'm, 's rud eile a bhiodh aca nam biodh iad a' smaoineachadh anns a' chànain agus a' dealbhadh ainm gu nàdarra mar sin.
Bhathas a' cleachdadh "taigheadas" airson rudeigin coltach ri "residence" san naoidheamh linn deug. Chunnaic mi e ga chleachdadh ann an leabhar mu Eachdraidh na h-Alba san t-seagh sin.

Mar eisimpleir, "an rìgh na thaigheadas samhraidh" - the king in his summer residence

Chan eil mi a' smaoineachadh gu bheil càil ceàrr air "taigheadas" a bhith ga chleachdadh airson property san t-seagh anns an dealbh agad ge-tà. Tha e a' còrdadh rium nas motha na "togalach".

Ach dè mu dhèidhinn eadar-theangachadh saor? Can taighean na dùthcha no dachaighean dùthchail?

Tha fios gun do mhothaich mise mar a' chiad rud `Sith an àite Sìth.

(How do you get a grave above an S anyway? Do you manually paint it there?)

Cuideachd, ceann-litir aig a h-uile facal - fàgamaid sin dha tiotalan òrain pop Ameireaganach :priob: .

Taigh-tasgaidh an Òbain an Cogadh 's an Sìth?

Taigh-tasgaidh Cogadh is Sìth an Òbain?

Chan fhaod thu alt + tuiseal ginideach a chleachdadh ach aon àm

Dhomhsa dheth, tha is sìth nas fhasa fuaimneachadh na 's sìth

Cuideachd, tha an t-asgair ceàrr aca: ‘S -> ’s, agus bu chòir do t beag a bhith aca is gun bheàrnan: an t-Òban

Hmm, bhiodh Taigh-tasgaidh Cogadh ⁊ Sìth an Òbain na b' fhaisge air an tar-sgrìobhadh Bheurla...

Chunnaic mi sanas air an robh: "Feumar cead son a bhith seo." Saoilibh cò air a tha iad a-mach agus dè bha iad airson ràdh ann an da-rìribh?

"One needs permission for to be this", 's dòcha? Smaoin gu bheil "an" a dhìth.

"You need permission for to be here"? = No unauthorised persons permitted?

"Feumar cead son a bhith seo."
Well... it's grammatical but rather colloquial for a sign. Reducing /ə vi əNʲ'ʃɔ/ to /ə vi ʃɔ/ is perfectly regular (it goes /əNʲ'ʃɔ/ > /ə'ʃɔ/ and the the /ə/ drops off due to the preceding /i/).

Bha e caran èibhinn co-dhiù!

And yes, "No unauthorized access" is the English version of the sign.
