Love sayings for Valentine's Day?

Unread post by TaisiaTuaMagia »

I haven't quite figured out many romantic things to say but I would love to seduce my husband in Gàidhlig on Valentine's Day. Thanks! :)

I instantly thought of Micheal Klevenhaus's book
Schottish-Gaelisch wort fur wort

Flirt & Liebe - Micheal is a man that always has a big smile so I think his style would work equally well in Gaelic as it obviously has in his native German :-)

He obviously has thought a bit about romance :-)

I don't think you will need
Am faod mi do thoirt dhachaigh?
Can I take you home?

Or
A bheil thu a' siubhal leat fhèin?
Are you travelling by yourself?

But more useful perhaps

Tha thu a' coimhead brèagha. Tha gaol agam ort.
You look beautiful. I love you.

'S toil leam gu mòr thu
I like you very much

Thuit mi ann an gaol
I fell in love

An toir thu pòg dhomh

Will you give me a kiss?

Càite an tèid sinn a-nis?
Where shall we go now? - Suas na staidhre - upstairs?

Any others folks?

Gur math a thèid leat
Good luck Tasia :priob:

what about something a bit more romantic....

's ann leatsa a tha mo chridhe gu brath - my heart is yours forever

's ann leatsa a tha mise gu brath - i am yours forever

will try and think f some more... :naire:

What about Gaelic love songs? There's a wealth of passion and sentiment out there to quote from.

Try Celtic lyrics corner: http://www.celticlyricscorner.net/

Or the Gaelic songs of Runrig:
http://www.jimwillsher.co.uk/Site/Runri ... AlbumID=22

And it doesn't get more romantic than this, Runrig's take on an old Gaelic saying:

Thig crioch air an t-saoghal
Is thig crioch air daoin
Ach mairidh ceol is mairidh gaol
O mo run

The world will come to an end
An end must come for mankind
But music and love
They'll last forever
My love
