Just checking. I have cèile as the word for husband/partner, that's not a name. Is this still correct?

Yes. You are calling your partner "cèile", which is like giving him/her a name or nickname, so the vocative rules apply.

As far as understand, vocative kicks in no matter who/what you're addressing i.e. not just people...
Halò, a Mhurchaidh

Halò, a chait (i.e. greeting some unknown feline)
