Obh-obh, tha e teine teth gu dearbh ann a-nis!
Ach tha mi toilichte nach robh duine air a ghoirteachadh gu cruaidh.

It's really hot now there!
But I'm happy that nobody was badly hurt.

Dha-rìribh tha mo dhùrachdan aig an fheadhainn sin ann an Astràilia a tha air a bhith a' breith air bho na teintean. An-seo bha sinn air ghreiseig na bu bhlàithe a bhith an t-seachdain sa chaidh fhad 's a bha feadhainn dhinn air briogais-ghlùine an cur fhéin. 'S ann ach fuar a-nis a th' ann.

(Tog gun fàiltich mi na ceartachaidhean sam bith! From above: ...dhinn air briogais-ghlùine an cur fhéin no ...dhinn air briogais-ghlùine a chur orra fhéin? ...the more I think about it, the first attempt makes less and less sense!)

Sorry I forgot the english version: My thoughts are with those that have been affected by the fires in Australia. Here we had a warmer period last week while some of us had on shorts. And now it's nothing but cold.

'S math a rinn thu! Good try!

I'd keep it a bit simpler, to avoid having to tr*nsl*t* idiomatic expressions.
E.g.

Tha fìor cho-fhaireachdainn agam do na daoine ann an Astràilia a tha a' fulang air sgàth nan teintean. Bha e nas blàithe an seo an t-seachdain sa chaidh agus cuid dhinn ann am briogais ghoirid, ach chan eil ach fuachd ann a-nis.

(Maybe someone else has something more stylish?)

Another way of saying this:

Tha mo smuaintean air an fheadhainn sin ann an Astràilia a tha air a bhith fo bhuaidh nan teintean. An-seo tha greiseig na bu bhlàithe air a bhith againn an t-seachdain sa chaidh fhad 's a bha feadhainn dhinn air briogais-ghlùine a chur oirnn. 'S ann nach eil e ach fuar a-nis.

Is barrachd cheartachaidhean:

'S àbhaist dha 38°C neo rud mar sin a bhith againn.

Tha i a' cur sneachda, or: Tha an sneachd ann

anns an taigh

anns an t-sneachd

Agus dè an teothachd a tha ann an Astràilia nuair a tha fuachd ann, Alasdair? - since you don't mean now, but in general, better use the future tense.

cha mhòr nach eil i -20°C - you can't leave "nach" hanging without a verb.

Nuair a bhios an fhuachd ann

Tha mi a' glanadh

Tha an latha glè mhath /'S e latha glè mhath a th' ann

Tha chrèid mi nach e blàthachad na cruinne a th' ann

tha e teth gu dearbh ann a-nis!

Oich! Bha 45°C againn an-dè :grian: . Cha robh sin cho comhfhurtal idir. Thàinig gaoth deasach san fheasgar ("the Southerly Buster" mar a chuireas sinn oirre) agus bha an t-sìde fada nas fhionnaire an deidh sin. Tha dùil againn gum bhidh 25° ann an-diugh agus bidh mi a' dol do na beanntan.

Ouch! It was 45°C yesterday. That wasn't comfortable at all. A south wind came in the evening (the Southerly Buster as we call it) and the weather was much cooler after that. We expect it to be 25°C today and I'm going to the mountains.

Móran taing Fhaoileag agus a GhunChleoc -- Bha mi a' coimhead air leisgeul airson tràthan fillte a chleachdadh. A thaobh na sìde an-diugh, tha i móran nas fhuaire n' an-dé le còmhdach sneachda. -- Agus tha "brass monkeys agus puinnsean" a' cur nam chuimhne nam filmaichean Indiana Jones air adhbhair air choireigin. Có às a tha an abairt seo? :mc:

Thanks Faoileag and GunChleoc. -- I was looking for an excuse to practice compound tenses. -- Regarding the weather today it's much colder than yesterday with a dusting of snow. -- And "brass monkeys and poison" remind me of the Indiana Jones movies for some reason; hehe, where does this expression come from?

Mòran taing a-rithist, a GhunChleoc!

Mar sin, bha agam ri sgrìobhadh mar sin: "Dè an teothachd a bhios ann an Astràilia nuair a bhios an fhuachd ann? (A bheil an dà chuid de "mar sin" ceart an-seo?)
So, I had to write so: ... (Are both "so" corrrect here?)

'S bochd sin! Sgrìobh mi "teine" an àite "teth": 's e rud fìor uabhasach a tha ann! :naire:
I am sorry! I wrote "teine" insead of "teth": it's really terrible!

Feumaidh mi cuimhneachadh gum feum "cha mhòr nach" a bhith còmhla ris a' ghnìomhair agus gum feumar "an" a chur ron "fhuachd".
I have to remember that "cha mhòr nach" must be with the verb and that "the" is to be put (???) before "fuachd".

Chan eil sin cho furasda dhomh na faclan a chur sa Bheurla a bharrachd!
It's not very easy for me to put the words in English either! :(

Obh! Obh! Tha tuilltean ann a-nis. Ged nach eil e ach caran fliuch an seo ann an Wollongong, the e fior dhuillich ann an Queensland. Thuit 540mm de dh'uisge an-dè ann am Bunderberg ann an Queensland.

Oh no! Floods now. Although it's only a bit wet here in Wollongong, it's very bad in Queensland. 540mm of rain fell in Bunderberg in Queensland yesterday.

Cha chuala mi an gnàths-chainnt roimhe seo. Mòran taing.

Tha i caran fliuch an-seo cuideachd. Ma mhaireas e mar sin, 's buidhe dhomh gu bheil snàmh agam!

It's a bit wet here as well. If it keeps up like that, I'm be lucky that I can swim
