Tha beagan obrach-dachaigh agam - beagan, like mòran, cus etc takes the genitive:

Bha i teth anns a' Ghearmailt ach tha mi ann an Alba a-nis, agus tha i tlàth - 's fhearr dhomh. ;)

It was hot in Germany but I am in Scotland now, and it is mild - better for me.

blath

Also, some people prefer to use i for weather (e.g. Tha i blath) rather than e, because sìde and aimsir are both feminine, but I wouldn't worry about that too much... :D

Really? From this course http://www.learngaelic.net/lg-beginners/index.jsp I've learned differently - to use "e" when speaking about weather, but I know, of course, that "sìde" is feminine. Thank's for corrections. :flur: Mòran taing!

Either is fine, but it's very common for people to use i to describe the weather.

Tha latha soilleir, blàth agus tioram ann. Tha oidhche fuar agus tioram ann.
The day is bright, warm and dry. The night is cold and dry.

Tha i fliuch an-diugh.

(I am confused about when to use i of e concerning things like this)

As above, either is correct. Some speakers use 'e' as the neuter pronoun 'it', others use 'i' because the usual words for weather in Gaelic (tìde & aimsir) are both feminine.

I prefer the latter, but that's simply because that's how I've been taught.

There is no neuter pronoun but I think you meant "default pronoun", in which case you're right - for most things the default is e, irrespective of grammatical gender, apart from certain exceptions such as the weather, languages, countries and beings with biological gender.

'S ann glè fliuch a tha i an-seo!
Bha an t-sneachd ann o chionn trì no ceithir làithean, ach dh'fhàs i fada na blàithe.

It's very wet here!
There was the snow three or four days ago, buh then it grew much warmer.
