Ma tha e mar sin, tha mi fìor dhuilich! :(
If that's so, I'm really sorry!

A bheil cothrom eile agad na deuchainnean ath-dhèanamh?

An-dràsta, tha mi a' cluich leis an coineanach agam. 'S e Hickory an t-ainm a th'air. Tha bian liath agus geal aige. 'S toigh leis itheadh feur, curranan, agus rèisiedean. Nuair a cluich mi leis, tha mi a' cuireadh mi bogsaichean, le tuill a bha air geàrradh a-mach dhiubh, air an làr, agus tha e a' ruith tron bogsaichean.

Just now I am playing with my rabbit. His name is Hickory. He has gray and white fur. He likes eating hay, carrots, and raisins. When I play with him, I put boxes with holes cut out of them on the floor, and he runs through the boxes.

Tapadh leibh mo chaomhnachean (?)!

Thank you, my friends.

Feumaidh mi dèanamh fiosaigs agus ceimigeachd an ath-bhliadhna.

I must do physics and chemistry next year.

Somewhere, deep down, I knew those two subjects would drag me down. I can do every single subject reasonably well, but physics and chemistry are simply the bane of my existence. Next year I won't have to do anything but those two subjects.

Tha Hickory glè stampa, tha mi a' smuaineachadh.

Hickory is very cute, I think.
The name sounds immensely cute.

An-diugh tha i glè glè theth. Cha robh i cho dona anns a' mhadainn, ach bha mi a' coiseachd a-muigh an-dràsta agus cha robh i tlachdmhor idir. Ro bhruthainneach. 'S e sin an samhradh ann an Chicago! A-nis tha mi anns an taigh, ag èisteachd ri Radio nan Gàidheal.

Today it's very, very hot. It wasn't so bad in the morning, but I was walking outside just now and it wasn't pleasant at all. Too humid. That's summer in Chicago! Now I'm in the house, listening to Radio nan Gàidheal.

Tha mi 'n dòchas nach eil e cho teth san taigh agad.

Agus tha i car fuar an-seo, chan eil e coltach ris an t-samhradh cheart idir: chan eil fios agam a bheil mi as t-earrach fhathast no as t-fhoghar mar-tha!

I hope that it's not so hot at your home.

And it's somewhat cold here, it's not like the proper summer: I don't know if I am in the spring yet or in the autamn already!

Tha an samhradh ann an Chicago glè theth. Ann an Wisconsin cuideachd. Chan eil ro fuar no ro teth ann an Alba riamh. Tha i tlàth daonnan. 'S toil leam sin. Tha Wisconsin glè, glè, GLÈ fhuar sa' gheamhradh, le mòran sneachd mòran mìosan. Tha Alba nas blàithe. Chan eil fiù 's deigh ann! (Chan eil sa' Fhìoba an ear-thuatha, co-dhiù.)

Summer in Chicago is very hot! Wisconsin too. It's never very cold or very hot in Scotland. It is always mild. I like that. Wisconsin is very, very, VERY cold in the winter, with lots of snow for many months. Scotland is warmer. There's not even any ice! (Well, not in northeast Fife, anyway.)

Seadh, 's e latha brèagha a th'ann an-diugh! Beagan gaothach, 's dòcha, ach grianach agus chan eil ro theth. An-diugh mharchadh mi an baidhseagal agam dhan phàirc, shuidh mi sìos fo chraobh, agus leugh mi Na Pàipearan Fheadaraileach agus Sophocles. Tha mi a' dol gu Wyoming ann an cola-deug airson prògraim samhraidh aig colaiste, agus feumaidh mi tòrr leughadh a dhèanamh airson na clasaichean. Ach tha sin ceart gu leòr; 's toigh leam litreachas clasaigeach.

Well, it's a beautiful day today! A bit windy, perhaps, but sunny and not too hot. Today I rode my bike to the park, sat down under a tree, and read the Federalist Papers and Sophocles. I'm going to Wyoming in two weeks for a summer program at a college, and I have to do a lot of reading for the classes. But that's okay; I enjoy classical literature.

Bha latha math, a Mhàiri! An toil leat Na Pàipearan Fheadaraileach agus Sophocles? Chan eil mi air dhol a Wyoming. Chan eil mi air leugh Na Pàipearan Fheadaraileach agus Sophocles cuideachd... ach tha mi air leugh beagan Plato, agus mòran bàrdachd clasaigeach.

Tha mi air a lèireadh le tinneas an fheòir an-diugh. Ò dhiamh! Tha mi a' gabhail cùram chlann aig mo nàbaidh a-nochd. Fhuireach mi air an cois anmoch an-raoir oir bha sgioba nan Stàitean Aonaichte a' cluich ball-coise. Chaill sinn, ach bha an geama glè bharraichte.

It was a good day, Mary! Do you like the Federalist Papers and Sophocles? I have never been to Wyoming. I also haven't read The Federalist Papers or Sophocles... but I have read some Plato, and lots of classical poetry.

I have had hayfever today. Yuck! Tonight I babysit my neighbour's kids. I stayed up late last night because the US team was playing football. We lost, but the game was excellent.

Tapadh leat, a phoormouse.

O, tha mi duilich, a Mhairead! Tha mi 'n dòchas gum bi thu a' faireachdainn nas fheàrr a-màireach. Agus gum bi na clann math. :) 'S toigh leam Na Pàipearan Fheadaraileach math gu leòr--tha iad inntineach--agus chòrd Sophocles rium cuideachd. 'S e bàrdachd barraichte a th'ann. Agus tha mi a' leughadh beagan Plato cuideachd airson mo chlaisaichean! Chòrd sin rium gu math. Dè bàird a tha thu air leughadh?

Thanks, poormouse.

O, I'm sorry, Mairead! I hope you'll be feeling better tomorrow. And that the children will be good. :) I like the Federalist Papers well enough--they're interesting--and I enjoyed Sophocles too. It's excellent poetry. And I'm reading a bit of Plato for my classes too! I enjoyed that a lot. What poets have you read?

An-dràsta tha mi ag obair air an coimpiutair agam a' dèanamh càirtean-ionnsachaidh airson a' phrogram Speaking Our Language. Tha mi an dòchas gun cuidichidh sin mi m' fhaclairean a cuimhneachadh! A-màireach, (uill an-diugh, tha i ceithir uairean sa mhadainn :P) tha mise agus an teaghlach agam a' dol gu taigh-dhealbh airson* am film "Tammy" a choimhead; agus an uair sin tha sinn a' dol dhan bhaile airson an teintean-ealain a choimhead, bhon a tha Là na Neo-eisimeileachd ann anns Na SA!

At the moment I'm working on my computer making flash cards (study cards?) for the program Speaking Our Language. I'm hoping that will help me to remember my words! Tomorrow (well, today, it's four in the morning :P) my family and I are going to a theater to see the film "Tammy"; and then we're going to town to see the fireworks, since it's Independence Day in the US!

*Do I need "airson" here? And any other corrections are welcome! :)
