When she selects a book for reading you could ask "Dè an leabhar a th' agad?"

You don't have to go for all the forms at once.

I'd put it stronger than that: you can't go for all the forms at once.

If you teach them all at once, you make them into a list. As adults we use lists like that as a sort of internal dictionary and grammar book that we can "look up" until we remember the words properly and can then forget the dictionary and grammar*. Younger children can't really do this.

(And adults don't need to do this either. Ideally a course would present them gradually, but most are still obsessed with lists.)

* Only two nights ago I translated "better" into Spanish as "más bueno", which is literally "more good" and about as wrong in Spanish as it would be in English. When I first learned Spanish I knew the irregular pattern, but now I would automatically say "mejor", so I don't remember that part of my internal dictionary -- I don't need it.

or if you knew if the toys were male or female, you could always 'pass' the book round saying aice, aige, aca etc

although there's probably an argument in there somewhere for using leis instead of aig

but go for it anyway - caite a bheil an leabhar? tha e aice, aige etc etc

A Thaoibh Dhorcha, Nuair a bha do phaiste ag ionnsachadh Beurla/ Albais, an do rinn thu rudan mar "mine, thine, his, hers, its, ours, yours, theirs" leis/leatha? 'S dòcha gu bheil cuimhne agad air rudan mar "amo, amas, amat, amamus, amatis, amant", no "je vais, tu vas, il va, nous allons, vous allez, ils vont" san sgoil. Chan eil seo, an mo bheachd-sa, na dheagh dhòigh airson cànan nàdarra ionnsachadh,

Ach 's dòcha gu bheil do phaiste ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig san sgoil ann an dòigh seo, mar a thèid Francais no Gearmailtis ionnsachadh san sgoil mar as àbhaist. "This week we are doing AIG..." - rudeigin mar sin, nach e? Agus bidh thusa, nad fhìor phàrant, ag iarraidh cuir taic dha/dhi.

Bidh am pàtran "Tha X agam/agad/aige/aice/againn/agaibh/aca/aig Little Bo Peep", "A beil X agam...", "Chan eil X agam...", "Nach eil X agam..." freagarrach, tha mi a' creidsinn.
