Mìosanach/ Calendar 2009?

Unread postby faoileag » Mon Nov 10, 2008 1:49 am

I have looked everywhere on and offline for a Gaelic Calendar 2009 - is there one?

The last couple of years I got one (CNAG) in the Luckenbooth shop in Inverness Market, but this year the lady said virtually no one had bought them last year and she was not ordering them again.

A) What a wasted opportunity - what publicity was there? Did the Gaelic school and parents do anything?

B) Where can I get one? The CNAG website search doesn't show anything up, nor does Comhairle nan Leabhraichean, nor does Google (Gaelic or English).

The best I can do is Charles Tait's Western Isles calendar, with Gaelic 'subtitles' for the months (I have this year's as well as the CNAG one, and it's certainly photographically very attractive too):

Why not make use of some of the on-line services that let you make your own? Just as Niall Beag made his own t-shirts :-)

Aha! What you want is famous Bail' a' Mhanaich everything-merchants MacGillivray's (the webshop only opened this year).

Their annual Western Isles calendar contains pictures taken locally especially for the calendar, each accompanied by an appropriate Gaelic proverb.

It's a completely bilingual calendars -- month names, day names and proverbs are all translated.

It's one of the wee CD-box sized calendars printed on glossy card.

I had one last year and loved it. I sat it on my desk and every now and then would get a chuckle when the proverb was appropriate to something going on in the office. Far is tainne an abhainne, 's ann is mór am fuaim. Aye, ah ken wha that yin's talkin about. We've all got colleagues like that. :-)

I managed to procure two bilingual calendars this Summer. One I got at Borders in Glasgow and it's a hard cover pocket calendar with drawings in it, called the Hebridian Diary. The other one I found on Skye where they produced a calendar that donates the proceedings to cancer research, a sizable wall calendar with photographs in it. I can hunt for the details when I'm back home. Remind me if I forget.

Mòran taig. :D

A Nèill, tha fear sin agam cuideachd - bha mi air a dhìochuimhneachadh. 'S toil leamsa e cuideachd. (Agus tha e air an deasg aig m'obair ...)

A G.C., tha mi eòlach air a' chiad fhear agadsa - 'se Mairi Hedderwick a th' ann, nach e? Chan eil an seòrsa mìosachadh a tha mi ag iarraidh.

A Gràisg - chan eil ùine agam!
:priob:
Ach cha toil leam a bhith a' cluiche le rudan mar sin air a' chompiutair co-dhiù, tha mi duilich. Chan eil foighidinn gu leòr agam. :(

OK, calendars sorted: ceist a dhà: cairtean Nollaige Gàidhlig àiteigin sam bith? 8-)

Tha mi eòlach orra - boring, boring. 8-)

Bha cairtean Oxfam Gàidhlig ann aon bhliadhna, feadhainn brèagha, ach chan eil iad ann tuilleadh - fhaighnich mi.

Bha mi a' googladh. Sharing is caring. :P

1. Tha an Lanntir a' ràdh gun reic iad iad, ach chan eil eisimpleirean air an làrach-lìn:

(cairtean-puist snoga, ge-thà)

2. Tha iadsan rud beag educational, agus chan mi cinnteach mu 'Nollaig mhath' mar teachdaireachd:

3. Tha aon no dhà an seo, ach rud beag feeble (good cause, though)

4. Sin a tha mi ag iarraidh, ach...'out of stock for 2007' - not hopeful, eh:

5. Multi-linguals an seo (9 cànanan):

6. Bonny but horribly expensive (Is the 4.99 really for one card??):

Feumaidh tu an aon a dheanamh mar a ni mise - deanamh cairtean fhein le (m.e.) Paint agus an cur tron Eadarlion ri cairdean is caraidean. "Saturnalia Sgoinneil", "Chanukah Chrideil" - whatever. De a' Ghaidhlig airson "Wonderful Winterval"? co-dhiu?

Tha mi duilich ach cha do rinn CnaG mìosachan am bliadhna. Ma 's math mo bheachd ri sinn call orra an-uiridh.

I'm sorry but CnaG haven't produced a calender this year. I think I am correct in saying we made a loss on them last year.

Aidh. Nuair a bha bùth nam pàipear againn, bha sinn buidheach dhà-riribh gun d'fhuair sinn ar caladairean air reic-no-thill!

'S duilich sin. Cheannaich mi mìosachan an-uiridh 's b' e mo rùn fear eile a cheannach.

Tha na goireasan ann airson miosachan a dheanamh dhut fhèin. Rinn mi sin an-uiridh. A bharrachd air am fear a cheannaich mi, rinn mi miosachan mòr a shìneas ceithir troighean air a'bhalla san oifis agam. Bith mi ga chleachdadh airson planaicheadh dè a thacras. Tha e èibhinn mar a bhios daoine eile a'tighinn a-steach a' plànaicheadh cuide rium leis a' mhiosachan seo 's iad a' obrachadh a-mach co na mìosan.

Seo fear dhuibh (pdf) a rinn mi is saor an asgaidh, ach feumaidh sibh fhèin a chlò-bhualachadh.

t.p. a GhunChleoc,

'S e miosachan breagha a th' ann. Bu mhath leam a chlo-bhualach a-mach.

Cò am prògram a chleachd thu?

Mhothaich mi rudeigin: chuir thu DihAoine DiarDaoine seach DiarDaoine DihAoine.
