Correspondence Courses?

Unread post by terrencevane »

Hallo a'chairdean,
Does anyone know if there are any correspondence courses in Gaelic? I know there are several sources of lessons online--but I'm in search of something a little more interactive as I'm not in a position to go out of town for anything (which I'd have to do for a live course).

Tapeadh leibh,
Terrence

P.S. Tha mi duilich; I'm sure my spelling is attrocious, but I'm trying to work on that.

Check out the Sabhal Mòr's course An Cùrsa Inntrigidh and the follow-on An Cùrsa Adhartais, both at distance.

I think there's someone in North America offering distance study too, but I can't remember who it is....

Here is one list of courses that I know of, I'm sure there are many besides this..

There are private tutors, as well as full academic courses e.g. S.M.O., A.G.A.
best of luck.. :D

The Atlantic Gaelic Academy (AGA) time zones, though in Eastern Canada, would probably be a little more user-friendly for you than the Scottish ones.

Skype-based weekly class teaching programme, September to May.

Do the BBC Beag air Bheag (online) or the old Speaking Our Language video-based course (YouTube or LearnGaelic.net) while you wait - the AGA and the SMO courses are fast-moving so it's good to get a bit of a headstart.

Tapadh leibh! Tha mi ag ionnsachadh "Beag air Beag" agus will give "Speaking our Language" a try if the visuals aren't too critical (I'm visually impaired, so scenes where they hold up an object and say, "Seo ..." probably wouldn't work too well for me. But I'm going to take a look at those at least. I've also contacted one of the private instructors on that list; she's in Arizona, so a little closer to my Alaskan time zone. '-)

Tapadh leibh Again!
