Glè mhath!
..."an t-suidheachadh" (typo), "tìde" (tha stràc a dhìth an-seo).

Tha fhios agam air "uabhasach toilichte", ach chan eil mi cinnteach mu dheidhinn "cianail toilichte". Dè ur beachd, a charaidean?

I'm not sure abour "cianail toilichte". What do you think?

Fhaoileag, bha mi a' sgrìobhadh mu dheidhinn "e" aig deireadh an fhacail: "latha-fèille" ("là-fèille").

Feasgar math,

Tha saor-laithean againn an-diugh agus a-maireach. Rinn sinn "errands" anns a' bhaile sa mhadainn an-diugh, agud thoisichidh sinn turas goirid feasgar an-diugh.

---------

Good afternoon,

We have vacation today and tomorrow. This morning we did errands in town, and this afternoon we will start a short trip.

Nuair nach bi mi cinnteach, lorgaidh mi san eadar-lìon rudan a bhios coltach ris an abairt agam.
Tha sin a' cuideachadh dhomh gu tric, ged nach fhaigh mi an fhìrinn dheireannach mar sin.

When I'm not sure, I search in the Ingernet something similar to my phrase.
It helps me very often, though I'll not get the final truth this way.

I usually do that, but I'm trying to get away from "cheating" that way...gotta learn on my own sometime! :priob:

Madainn mhath,

'S e latha brèagha samhraidh a th' ann an-diugh. Dh' eirigh sinn trath sa mhadainn, agus bha sinn ag òl cofaidh a-muigh. As deidh sin bha mi a' dol cuairt leis a' chù agam. Fhad's a bha sinn a coiseachd, thachair mi ris a' bhodach a tha a' fuireach faisg oirnn. Bha sinn a' bruidhinn air cuisean (dè an facal as fhearr airson "chatting"?) airson greis.

-----------

Good morning,

It is a beautiful summer day. We got up early and drank coffee outdoors. After that I took the dog for a walk. While walking I ran into an old guy who lives near us. We talked about things for a while. (What's a better word for "chatting"?)

Bha mi a' cabadaich ri bodach.
I was chatting (the Scots word "blethering" might be better) with an old fellow.

ris a' bhodach shuas an rathad.
with the old man up the road.

Mòran taing, Alasdair.

Bidh mi a' cleachdadh "cabadaich" an ath thuras a thacras mi am bodach.
Tha cuimhne agam air "shuas an rathad" an-dràsta. 'S fhearr leam sin na "faisg oirnn" anns an t-suidheachadh seo air sgath 's gur ann ann an meadhan an rathaid a bha sinn nar seasamh nuair a bha sinn a' cabadaich!

------------

Thank you, Alasdair.

I will use "cabadaich" the next time I meet the old fellow.
I remember "up the road" now. I like it better than "near us" in this situation because we were standing in the middle of the road when we were blethering!

@iolair: Glè mhath, ach aire air na sràcan:
Very good, but watch the accents:

Very few mistakes otherwise! Keep in mind that accents mean long vowels, so it is important to try to sort this out in your head, especially when speaking.

Gu mì-fhortanach sgrìobh mi rudeigin an seo an turas mu dheireadh o chionn beagan mìosan. Cha robh tìde gu leòr agam rud sam bith math (neo rud sam bith math gu leòr!) a sgrìobhadh. Bidh mi a' leughadh na posts agaibh bho àm gu àm, ge-tà.

a' dèanamh phlanaichean airson na h-obrach
air sgàth 's gu bheil mi a' gabhail pàirt ann an grunn pròiseactan.

mar as àbhaist: as = a + is

Mus tòisich
Gàidhlig
tràth
bhlàth

I didn't go through all the accents in the following posts, but here's some other suggestions:

Cha robh mòran traffic ann air an rathad - "air an rathad" already gives you a place, so there is no need to add the "ann" as well, unless you want to emphasize.

Bu chòir do fios a bhith agam

cianail

toisichidh sinn turas goirid ...

Dh' èirich sinn... : èirigh is the verbal noun.

Agus tapadh leat, a luchag bhochd, bha na ceartachaidhean agad ceart!
And thank you, poor mouse, your corrections were correct!

Seo ceartachadh dhutsa:

Tha sin na chuideachadh dhomh gu tric / Tha sin gam chuideachadh gu tric
Oileanach chànan chuthachail

GunChleoc:

Feumaidh mi taing a thoirt dhut! Na stracan... mo naire...

Tha mi air ais anns an oifis as dèidh latha neo dhà dheth. Tha sin a' ciallachadh gu bheil mi faisg air an compiutair, agus tha teansa agam rudeigin a sgrìobhadh bho àm gu àm.

----------------

GunChleo:

I must thank you. The accents ... I am embarrassed ...

I am back in the office after a day or two off. That means I am near the computer, and have a chance to write something from time to time.

Tapadh leibh, phoor mouse :)

Chan eil mi cadal a-nis 's tha mi a' sealltain air an taighean anns a' Gheàrmailt. Mo ghràibh 's mise a' siùbhal san àite sal airson mu dheidhinn 1 bliadhna. Tha i ag ionnaschadh 'Food Science PHD' ann an Stuttgart.
Tha Gheàrmailt beag agam agus feumaidh mise ag ionnascadh barrachd.

I cannot sleep so I'm looking at accomodation in Germany. My girlfriend and I are moving there for about 1 year. She's studying 'Food Science PHD' in Stuttgart.
I speak a wee bit of German so I need to learn more.

(Apologies for the poor Gàidhlig. I've not been keeping up to learning much this year as I've been busy but I hope to return again to TYG, and hopefully an online course or two to get some Gràmar and further vocab)

Tapadh leibh a-huile daoine.
