'rc' in stressed syllables

Unread post by Gormadoc »

I've seen everywhere that 'rc' in a stressed syllable is supposed to be pronounced /rxg/, such as in marcach. I'm having trouble figuring out how to pronounce it. The tap seems to cause me to immediately make a vowel sound. Can anyone help me with this?

Can you manage the /rx/ sequence on its own?

No, I keep inserting a vowel in between the two. Sounds like /rax/. I've been trying to delete the vowel sound, but then I either pronounce it /Rx/ or /x/ isn't pronounced correctly.

I guess the x sound is generally difficult for you?

I guess you will need practice and patience to solve this one. You could also try practicing the xk first, because they are in the same location at least.
