Leòir or leòr

Unread post by Nicholas1 »

Hello,
I'd like to say "kayaks galore".
Would that be "caidheagan gu leòr", or "caidheagan gu leòir" ... or perhaps something else?
Thank you!
Nicholas

"caidheagan gu leòr"

Please keep in mind that "gu leòr" is mostly used with the meaning of "enough, sufficient(ly)" rather than "lots and lots of". If you want to express that there are many, many kayaks, better use "tòrr chaidheagan" (informal), "mòran chaidheagan" (neutral) or "grunn chaidheagan" (high register).

You're quite right, I'd thought that "gu leòr" meant "plenty" rather than "enough, sufficiently".

Thank you very much for the correction and suggestion.
