Bha mi fhìn gu math trang an-diugh is an-dè le obair a' tighinn a-steach.

I was pretty busy myself today and yesterday with work coming in.

Bha mi a' dol do Dun De a bhith a' ceannach deise an-diugh. Bha mi a' tilleadh do Cill Rimhinn air an fheasgar.

Tha an t-uisge an-seo. Chan eil mi a' dol a-mach. Tha mi ag òl leann a-staigh a-nis :)

I went to Dundee to buy a suit today. I returned to St Andrews in the afternoon.

It is raining here. I am not going out. I am drinking beer in my house now :)

Cha robh mi ann an Cill Rìmhinn a-riamh ach tha caraid agam às a' bhaile ud. Tha i a' fuireach faisg air Glaschu a-nis.

I have never been to At. Andrews, but I have a friend who is from there. She lives close to Glasgow now.

Glè mhath! :D Just two things:

Watch out that do lenites: do Dhun Dè, do Cill Rìmhinn

Tha an t-uisge an-seo. = The water is here.
Tha an t-uisge ann an-seo. = It is raining.

Halò! Nollaig Chridheil, a h-uile daoine! :) Tha mi 'n dochas gun robh Nollaig math agaibh. Fhuair mi CD le Julie Fowlis, ach cha do dh'eist mi ris fhathast. Iarr mi a dh'eisteachd ris an-diugh. Tha caraid agam a' tighinn dhan taigh agam an-diugh; 's docha gum bi an ceòl Gàidhlig a' còrdadh rithe cuideachd!

Hello! Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you all had a good Christmas. I got a Julie Fowlis CD, but I haven't listened to it yet. I want to listen to it today. I have a friend coming over to my house today; maybe she will like the Gaelic music too!

Tha mi 'n dochas gun robh Nollaig mhath agus agadsa :)

I hope you also had a good Christmas.

Past tense of iarr = dh'iarr

An do chòrd an ceòl ri do chraid?

Did your friend like the music?

Tha mi a' dol dhan eaglais a-nochd. Bidh an t-seirbheis ann tron oidhche, oir bidh An Nollaig againne a-màireach.

I will go to the church this evening (night). There will be the night service, because it'll be our Christmas tomorrow.

Oh, she enjoyed it very much.

Nollaig Chridheil, a Mhàiri chòir!

typo: do charaid

she enjoyed -- chòrd e rithe
Ach 's dòcha gum biodh "do bhana-charaid" (female friend) nas fheàrr.
I think, it would be better.

Nach eil seo ro thràth fhathast?

Bidh sinne ag éisteachd ris an earrann den Soisgeul mu dheidhinn Zacchaeus DiDòmhnaich seo (no ath DhiDòmhnaich? -- 2 An Gearran), agus 's ann as dèigh seachdain eile a bhios an ullachadh a' tòiseachadh còmhla ris a' Phairiseach agus a' Chìs-mhaor.
'S ann an uairsin a thòiseachas an Triodion Carghasach; seo an leabhar de na h-òrain 's ùrnaighean airson Àm a' Charghais.
Agus 's ann as dèigh ceithir seachdainean eile a thòisicheas an Carghas fhèin.

Ach 's dòcha gum bi e nas tràithe aig an fheadhainn eile.

Chan eil mi cinnteach gun tèid agam air seo a chantainn sa Bheurla...

Isn't it too early?

We'll listen to the fragment of the Gospel about Zacchaeus on this Sunday (next Sunday? -- 2 of Febr.), and the preparation begins in a week after that - with the Pharisee and the Publican.
At that time the LentenTriodion begins; that's a book of songs and prayers of the season of Lent.
And in other four weeks the Lent begins.

But probably it begins earlier at (for?) the others.

Foghnaidh "DiDòmhnaich" cha chreid.
den t-Soisgeul ;)

às dèidh

Chan eil ceann-latha na Càisge co-ionnan san iar 's san ear. Bha connspaid eadar an Ròimh 's na h-Èireannaich ann mu dhèidhinn a' chinn-latha seo no mu ghnàthsan na fèille no rudeigin dhen leithid agus ghèill na h-Èireannaich. Cha chreid mi nach robh sin mu chumhachd seach a' cheann-latha gus an fhìrinn innse.

The date of Easter is not the same in the West and East. There was a dispute between Rome and the Irish once about this date or the ritual or something like that and the Irish submitted. I think this was about power rather than the actual date, to tell the truth.

Tha riaghailtean toinnte ann air mar a gheibh thu a-mach cuine a bhios a' Chàisg ann, ach tha cnag na cùise glè shimplidh: 's e a' chiad DiDòmhnaich às dèidh a' chiad làn-gheallaich as dèidh co-fhad-thràth an earraich a th' ann. Seo riaghailt pàganach dhut

There are complicated rules about how to calculate the date of Easter, but essentially it is very simple: It's the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. There's a pagan rule for you.
