That's the problem with irony, unless you use a lot of smilies it can be misunderstood

The irony is often dagnerous, not only in written form.
There was one friend of mine, who often shocked peole by saying something terrible.
Usually, while all the present people were silent in consternation, she'd suddenly said: "it's a joke."
After that -- common laugh with great relief!

Have just come here to see the latest musings on this (very interesting) thread, and realise that Ceid has obviously got hold of the wrong end of the stick and (understandably in that case) feels very let down.
I do hope she comes back on and realises it wasn't meant that way - I was enjoying the thread as an observer, and can imagine Ceid would be a very good addition to the forum membership. Grammar / idiom fans like me are always keen on new recruits to that field!
We're also in general always keen on helping serious learners, and would welcome you back, Ceid!
(Ceid, I've sent you a PM if you do read this!)

Seo bhidio beag spòrsail (sa Bheurla gu mì-fhortanach) a chunnaic mi air ThuTiùb le ceist dhen leithid sin, "A bheil fhios agaibh cò a tha annamsa?" (no "... cò a tha mi?")
